My mother and I went to lunch on Wednesday around noon. There were only about 12 other tables, and two servers. Despite this our experience at this restaurant included bad service and average food.
After being seated, we waited over 12 minutes to have our orders taken. It took a long time to get our drinks, and we were never given any bread or butter (a fact we didn't realize until after dinner.)
We both ordered dinner entrees, an appetizer and drinks. The calamari apetizer was quite good. My mother enjoyed her grouper dinner, but my chicken peacan meal was flavorless. It also came with a weird overly sweet dipping sauce. I do not recommend this meal.
During our meal our drinks ran out, but no one ever came to refill them (or to check on us). We thought about getting a dessert, but it took so long for them to take that order too that we decided to leave.
Overall it was a very unpleasant experience.
My new husband and I went to the Olde Schoolhouse while on our honeymoon - we both ended up with the likes of food poisoning. I don't believe that I need to describe what the effects were. We ate the Grouper Sandwich that this restaurant is known for. That had to be what made us sick, since we had not eaten anything the whole day besides dinner here. As we were leaving the restaurant - we came across the rat traps in plain view and saw cockroaches running on the walls.
Our advise DO NOT ENTER! DO NOT EAT HERE!
My fiance and I were in Palm Harbor and tried the Olde Schoolhouse. They served the best grouper that I have ever tasted, and my fiance loved the fried catfish. The historic building and friendly staff created a wonderful atmoshere as well. Also, the desserts were ridiculously good. I will always highly recommend it to others.
The Olde Schoolhouse was the perfect dining choice, on my Fla. vacation. The atmosphere unique , friendly staff, and fabulous food.
I would highly recomend this restaurant to anyone, young or old. You will enjoy!
