Crab Shack, Port Richey

Thank you all so much for wrighting your reviews we live in holiday and where looking for somthing like crabby bills and almost whent there till I took a gander at what everyone said, thank god for yahoo!! NO WORMS FOR ME TODAY!

This place is hit or miss. I've given it 3 chances, first being great, 2nd not so great, and 3rd disgusting. Poor hostessing, overcooked food, hair grilled in the food and the worst is worms in the ice. Some may think it's a great place to drink, but unless a cap twist off a bottle, I wouldn't have a frozen cocktail or a cocktail with ice. Our bartender was great and the company, which were my two daughters was the only good thing about this place. Too bad the owner doesn't take more pride in what could be a great place to eat and drink. Well one thing for sure, this owner will not get another slice of my pie.

If you want Great food with a good view go somewhere else. This is not the only place on the water. Sunday my mother, sister and I went there for lunch. As soon as we arrived it started going down hill. First the hostess took 10 minutes to acknowledge us. Then we asked of course for a table close to the water. she said there are plenty of tables availible but no servers could take them. We asked if we could atleast sit at a table and wait for the server since we were not in a rush to order food. The hostess told us that would confuse the servers??? I have worked in restaurants for years and could not believe what the hostess was telling me. At that point we sat at the bar instead fearing what kind of server we may get being they get confused so easily. We got lucky we had a great bartender. We never had to ask for a thing. Unfortunately they need a visit from the health department though, which my mother later arranged. My sister ordered a sandwhich and the meat tasted rotten ( the bartender did take the sandwhich off the bill). I ordered a burger, I didn't eat it until the drive home because we ordered appetizers and I was already full. My sister and I both ordered virgin Pina coladas as well. My mom also ordered a burger but it didnt come out medium it was well done.The bartender also gave my sister and I a cup of ice water. My sister took hers home and when the ice melted she found worms on the bottom of her cup....Yuck. While we were driving home I decided to take a bite of my burger and there was a hair grilled into it. We were all so grossed out that my mom made a call to the health department. Serving safe food is no joke. My sister and I both felt sick the next day.

Absolute Nightmare! Waited 45 min to be seated. Placed a drink, appetizer and food order as soon as we were seated. Drinks arrived immediately but no appetizers, no soups, no salads. Waited 90 minutes to receive a meal after complaining to a manager. Meal arrived with appetizer and salads at the same time (never did receive the soup). Meal was totally inedible. All the food was cold, baked potatoe was raw and one person in our party got food poisoning. Was a nightmare. Do not eat there I don't care what you think the atmosphere lends. It is a place for drinkers to hang out and party. Unfortunately for the owner the drinkers bills will not match what she would have gotten in good dinner menu bills. Service and attitude is also an F. Will never and I repeat never eat there again.

The ambiance could be great,,but do not waste your time. The owner and her friends occupy the seats at the bar in what seems to be a continuous private party, and couldn't care less about the customers. Cleanliness is an F- and the food is just a C- . Service is D- and the drunken owner could not care less. Maybe she should just close the place to the public?

We go to the Crab Shack fairly regularly when we can get a night or afternoon out. It's good if you sit at the bar, don't eat and just want entertainment and drinks. The food is marginal at best and the service is worse. Service at a table when it's busy (or even when it's not) is an exercise in patience to say the least... The atmosphere is fantastic, good for a lazy Saturday afternoon on the water if you want the true Florida experience. They also have some of the best outdoor entertainment in the area by far. Don't go expecting a four star meal or four star service, just go to enjoy and relax and soak it all in!

Hello, I visted the Crab Shack Friday 11/28/08 around noon time. I order the Crab Cakes and I am sorry to say within and hr I was running to the rest room. Sorry to say a very bad experienc (Wow).

The Crab Shack is my favorite spot in the Florida West Coast. The food is good and the ambiance is terrific. We try to go once every two weeks. This is the real Florida. I have not had a bad meal yet. The service has always been very good and the entertainment is usually pretty good. Keep up the good work.

This is more like it! Not only does the crab shack have ambience. The food is fantastic!!! It is very reasonable, a happy, cheerfull staff. Great decor, should make a postcard with a picture, TRULY FLORIDA......AHHHH I had Oysters for an appetizer, huge, fresh, in season. The crab cakes were very large, with a wonderful selection of sides. All in all, THE BEST DINING EXPERIENCE SO FAR! Update: They only serve seafood in season, which is great. It is awful to live on the water, and get bad seafood. Keep it up and I will keep coming back.
