I just moved to Tarpon Springs and visited the Sweet Tomatoes restaurant in Palm Harbor and thought it was a 92 (on the 1 to 100 scale) for a buffet. Parking was tough at an off hour so I can imagine how crazy it would be at 6Pm. There was plenty of salad fixings and all were very fresh. After eating my salad I hit the soup bar. there must have been 7 or 8 soups. The Chili was very good, The smoked pinto bean was excellent as was the sausage gumbo type of soup. The Lentel was very good and had an interesting flavor. The chicken noodle was weak except for the mammoth chunks of chicken. The bakery was excellent but the dessert bar was skimmpy in that it only had some mellon, one type of jello, banana pudding, chocolate pudding and icecream. I guess that would be enough but some different fruits and maybe a cake or two would not hurt. This is a great value at $8.49 and half price for kids. Overall I would definitely return and enjoy another excellent meal.
My rating scale (for a buffet)
Menu Flexability 10
Waiting Time 10 =92
The only thing I don't like about this restaurant are the dirty plates. I take my own paper plates when I go there and put them over their regular plates as a covering. I also use plastic silverware. I've gotten sick after visits there and I link it to dirty plates and other diners dirty habits when it comes to a salad bar situation.
Other than that, we enjoy going there a lot. We get our salad fix for the week or the month.
It's best to carpool here or go when it's not busy (not very often). Parking can be tricky. But the food is out of this world! Coupons are always in the paper too, so it'll save you about 10% ish. I wish there were one closer to Pasco County.
We've been here several times; clean, comfortable, good selection of items that are promptly refilled, eager and friendly staff. A bargain at any price! WARNING: Stay away from the one on Seminole in Largo, it's a dump!!!
