On 11/22/2011 my wife and I ate dinner at the Lucky Dill in Palm Harbor, FL. When we went to use our Groupon we were told that they were not yet set up to use Groupons and we could return at any time to use it. The owner even signed it for us. When we returned to use it last night, the manager told us that he would not honor it because it was expired. He would only credit our bill the $8.00 I originally paid for the Groupon. The waitress that waited on us the 1st time even confirmed that we could not use it when we visited on 11/22/2011. After a few minutes on arguing with the manager, he offered us a $10 gift card but the damage was already done. Obviously this left us with a stale taste on our mouth and will never return to this establishment. They had to piss us off all over a lousy $8!
Sorry to say on Mothers Day we went to enjoy our meal .
It was 10 ish when we arrived. Wasnt busy we were told 10 min wait . This turned into a 25 min and after that was ask if we wanted to eat outside . There were plenty of tables empty inside. Hey went outside was seated in the sun .OK looked over the seating and ordered our food . we noticed people being served before us. Our food arrived I had eggs that had been cooked up long before i had ordered them . My daughter had roast beef sand. Her coldslaw came to the table hot. our food was not fresh and Im thinkin this time of the morning? I have ate there before serveral times good and bad service is awful . I give it a 50/50 .
Terrible ambiance. Diners get packed in like sardines. Corned beef sandwich was very good and cheesecake was delicious. Too bad seating arrangements are unbelievably tight and making dining uncomfortable and probably unsanitary.
A mixed bag. Great food and portions and decent service (even though very busy most of the time). Prices are a little high considering the high school cafeteria atmosphere. Banging dishes and noise from everywhere. Difficult to converse and other diners right on top of you. I would probably think this place was great if I had not experienced the great food quality, low prices, and wonderful atmospere of so many of the Greek places just a few miles to the north in Tarpon Springs.
I went to the Lucky Dill Deli when I was visiting a friend for a warm vacation. We went for Thanksgiving, the meal was very tasty, large portions and served hot by a very courteous waiter, he came back several times thoughout the meal to make sure everything was to our liking and to see if he could get us anything more. I want to go back every time I visit that area again, great job Lucky Dill.
A trip back to my childhood
I am not from New York nor am I from Jewish background but I am next best. I was born and raised in Miami Beach by my mom who is from the old country, Bavaria. She was brought over to NY and employed by a Jewish family who owned a hotel. They transplanted to Miami Beach and my mom learned to cook authentic kosher cuisine. My dad, well, let's just call him Ricky Ricardo.....Mom always cooked my family kosher food.....and we loved it. Weekends were spent on Miami Beach, specifically, Wolfie's on 21 st......the famous gathering place of all the jewish population in Miami! New York style deli/restaurant for decades! Now....10 years ago I moved to the Tampa Bay area and I never thought I'd come even close to a place like Wolfie's, yet this past weekend I stumbled into the Lucky Dill to get away from the Ironman event where I recently moved to in Palm Harbor. What a delight! It was Wolfie's all over again!
Parking can be a problem. I was lucky that at 9 am I found the last spot in front....also construction next door in the plaza blocked off lots of otherwise available parking.
I came in for breakfast at 9 am, I ordered my favorite: cheese blintzes! Complimentary banana bread with citrus butter came out almost immediately with a complimentary carafe of OJ. Coffee was excellent. And when the blintzes arrived! I was in heaven. 5 cheese blinzes stuffed with romanoff cheese, strawberry preserves and sour cream AND fresh sliced strawberries. I was sitting right next to the bakery case and while I waited, my mouth watered for the pastries....when the blintzes arrived...THAT problem was solved.
It was very filling and I had to take 1/2 of it home. Now, I went in for breakfast and the reason I went in the first place was because my neighbor, who is from Minnesota saw a sign for Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds. They were not available for lunch....so we did the breakfast thing. He was disappointed so he just had a Bloody Mary. They have a full liquor bar on Saturday mornings!
I can't wait to go back on the weekend for lunch!
