Good food..undesirable service. Not as familiar with the indian quisine, I needed a little more help with menu selections and seemed like it was an inposition. Tried it three times now alway the same male server (has been there for years, may be an owner??) but he is very cold and hard. The experience of dining out is equally as important to me as is the quality of the food.

I live in Tampa and rarely travel north on I-75 to Ocala, but when I do, I make sure I stop at this place. This place has the best Indian food that I have ever had. Second to none. It is just that simple. I love their minced lamb dishes-----so good! The only drawback is that it is a little expensive for dinner for what you get. However, the lunch menu is a good deal because you get a cup of soup, naan bread and entree all for $7.95. Well worth it!

Amrit Palace has food so good that dining there it makes one think that they are eating a home cooked meal at a friend's house in India. The cuisine is beyond compare-so good that whenever I go down south to visit my friends they insist that I bring something from Amrit Palace for them. They consider it a real treat to eat it.

Amrit is the best Indian restaurant in the whole central Florida area. The food is always fresh & exquisitely prepared. It's the only restaurant I've ever been to that the customers walk in ripe with anticipation & when they leave they thank the owners.

The first time I tried Amrit Palace was accidental as I happened to spot the restaurant on my way from I75 to 301. The next three times were on purpose. I've only had lunches there and the one disappointing meal was on a Saturday when their dinner menu is in effect all day and a different chef may have been cooking. Their offerings are diverse. It would be nice if the spices used in the curries were more distinctive but then I don't have to toast and grind them. Every Indian bread I tried was delicious. A vegetarian friend who joined me one day was delighted by the variety of dishes available and he certainly enjoyed his choices. The only bad dish I've had was one based on spinach that tasted metallic. If I lived in or near Ocala I would go often and take friends.

I eat quite a lot of ethnic food. I would venture so far as to say that I no longer even like American food because it bores me! I've had the chance to eat in many fine Indian/Napalese establishments nationwide and Amrit is my favorite of them all. Hands down the best chicken curry I've come across. The nan is to die for. I'm sure it's the food of the Gods, it's that good! The staff is friendly and the service is efficient. I agree that the lunch menu is a much better deal than the dinner menu as you are getting pretty much the same thing for a lower price. I'm sad that I no longer live in Ocala to get my curry & nan fix, but I visit this place every chance I get. Namaste!

Great Food!
By LindaJ, 12/3/06
I have made Amrit Palace one of my frequent stops for dinner. The food is excellent, and the service is first rate. My favorite is Rogan Josh, cooked just as I like it, and the complement of mango jutney supports the heat of the dish.

Having lived in India, I highly recommend Amrit

The atmosphere is that of a family-run ethnic neighborhood restaurant -- low-key, quiet, with friendly attentive service. Their tandoori (clay-oven baked) chicken is the best I have ever tasted. If you want a dish specially prepared at no extra charge -- no problem! This restaurant is a gem.

Don't miss this one!
By Pam, 4/29/06
I've been to this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed. The dishes are tasty, the portions are generous, they reliably prepare them according to your spiciness preference, and the service is very efficient. The dinners can be a little on the pricy side but the lunch specials are very reasonable. They always provide a delicious meal- I especially like Aloo Palak (spinach with potatoes), but their menu offers many varied options. Try it- you won't be sorry.
