Location, Fantastic! View, Fantastic! Food, Very Good! Drinks are a bit expensive, although food is moderately priced. 1st night we sat on the patio and the food was great, but we saw our waitress maybe 2 times. The manager/owner did come to the table, he was a nice man. We all had one drink each, b/c she never checked on us. 2nd night, we went to the tiki bar. The visitors/locals were great! Atmosphere and view, GREAT! But the lady as the bartender, behind the bar, was a little brash and not friendly at all! No offense, but the group I was with expected a nice looking and nicer bartender behind the bar at an outside tiki bar in Florida. ??
This place sucked big time!!!!! Sat in an empty patio, except for one other couple. Waited 20 minutes while my waitress, who never acknowledged I was there, stood and shot the crap with one of the patrons there and talked, and talked and talked!!!! Not one thing to do about food or how the food was, but everything else!!!! I WILL NEVER, EVER go there again!!!!! Don't waste your time on this place.......
Had lunch and watched the Michigan/Ohio game. Staff, food, and atmosphere was great. Don't be fooled by the look from the parking lot and outside--restaurant sits on the water--beautiful view, clean and well kept inside. Sit outside and watch the sunset or the many TV's (GO GATORS) So glad we ate here--recomend it to all.
The sunsets are to die for!! Manatees & Dolphins right in front as well.. The food was Delicious.. We had the Grouper Reuben & Blackened Mahi.. The portions are huge so Come in hungry!! The staff was so friendly and attentive.. Totally enjoyed the Crystal River Ale house!
2/14/10 I am glad I disregarded these reviews and tried the Ale House in Crystal River. The restaraunt appeared clean. The waiters and waitresses were smiling, friendly, and certainly did their jobs. There was live music and some people danced, I liked the atmosphere. My husband ate the prime rib and I had the red snapper. We were served salads, rolls, a baked potatoe and mixed veggies to the side. We shared, both were delicious! It was a large amount of food, most in our party took a to-go box. We went in with reservations and 10 people at 5:30pm and left at 7:40pm after drinks and a full dinner. We had a great time and loved the steak and fish.
My husband and I have eaten at several other Ale House restaurants, which we loved. I couldn't wait to check out the one in Crystal River. BIG MISTAKE!!! We went on a Saturday night about 6pm. There was one table of about 10 people together and another table of two couples. The service was awful!!! The third person that told us he would be right with us never came back. Finally after waiting about 10 more minutes someone came to take our drink order. Since we had been waiting so long I asked if he could also take our food order. He did, but totally screwed it up. He didn't ask what sides I wanted, he just assumed. My husband's order was wrong. When he asked for it to be corrected the waiter acted as if it was a huge burden to fix his order. I could go on and on! He came back one time to bring out our appetizer (after he had brought out our meal). He never offered to refill our glasses or asked if we needed anything else. Never came back. We had to ask someone else for our bill. I could understand if the place was packed, but this was not the case. Normally I will give a restaurant multiple chances, but this is an exception. The Crystal Rive Ale House gives other Ale House restaurants a bad name!! Don't waste your time or money!
I have been to the Ale House several times, the food is very good, and the service good. I had blackened mahi mahi. The salads are fresh. I will be coming back again. The sunsets are very beautiful. The tiki bar is refreshing, the locals are a pleasure. Everyone welcomes you with a smile.
I must say I had a beautiful sunset view, dolphins, playing in the fresh waters
of crystal river, cold beer, fine coctail, great food. Right here in my own backyard. Wonderful, I'll be back.
