They Got It Right!!! Our last time was almost 2 years ago and I don't know what they did but after giving it a little time for my wife to cool off I convinced her to try it again. This time they Nailed it! The service was professional, it seems the new staff and/or manager has been working hard on educating themselves on wine and their own entrees as our waitress made every effort to inform us on specials and wine pairing. The Haddock that had this salsa on it unlike anything I've ever had was perfect. My wife had the lamb with a red wine sauce. When we were done all she did was smile at me as i thought to myself 'This isn't the same restaurant'. We stayed for desert which the manager Bought for us when we told him about our last visit! Chef Rolf is back and taking names. Cant wait for Mom and Dad to come down next month for our next visit.
My husband and I went to Saltwater Cafe with the anticipation of having a great meal, to say the least we didn't. The service was poor, we were seated by the kitchen and the server didn't give us a run down of the menu like the specials. I ordered the Sunset Seafood Combo which supposedly came with scallops but I looked and looked on my plate, even my husband looked and I didn't see any, I asked my server to take at look at my plate for the scallops and he could'nt find them, he went so far as to ask another server to look, finally the second server said they were on my plates he pointed out, they were sooooooooo small, smaller than miniature marshmallows more like chocolate chips, I was sooooooo disappointed, we will not be back. In today's economy you want what you pay for and Philippe Creek in Sarasota is a much better choice, you will not go wrong.
My husband and I recently went to saltwater cafe for a nice dinner, and that is exactly what we got! Our server Eduardo was extremely helpful! He answered all of our questions and suggested we try the Beef Carpaccio for our appetizer. It was amazing, so tasty and fresh, I am not usually one to try new things but everything sounded so good! When it came time to order our entrees my husband and I always have a hard time choosing something, no matter where we go, so we usually just ask the server what their favorite dish is or what is best. Eduardo suggested that we try the Potato Crusted Grouper and the Veal Chop Rahmschnitzel. Both were fabulous! The fish and meat were cooked perfectly and the sides were just as good. Then to top it all off (like we had any more room in our tummies) we ended the night with a Fried Apple! It was delicious fried apple slices with vanilla ice cream!
We will definitely be back to try more items off the menu!
Forget this one. The service was awful, and the food was poorly prepared and overcooked. The glasses of wine (advertised as 2 for 1) were extremely small and overpriced. The server was uninformed and screwed up our order badly.
Too many other good places to eat who truly value their customers - not like this one.
Baked brie had the 4 by 4 label baked in the pastry. Salad tomato had a worm burrowed in it. Philly steak was steak-um meat and greasy. Fried fish couldn't be eaten due to a dark batter color and sour (Old Oil) smell. Was still charged for brie after it was returned. Nasty Ass Place !!!!!!!!
What a rip off. They have a happy hour that even the servers do not understand. They sell a 1 1/2 pound lobster that would put even a chicken lobster to shame. When brought to the manager attention they would not do anything to rectify the situation. We will not be going back anytime soon.
we visit here about once a week.since the waiter Patrick was let go good service hard to find. Bartender Kevin makes a great rumrunner when manager lets him use the more expensive rum.Last time there rum runners were bad and we were told manager told bartenders try and get rid of the cheap stuff first. we were stunned
The service was great, but the cook must have come from a sport's bar. Scallops were drenched in some hot sauce, paella had some chicken wings in it and their greasy taste permeated the whole dish. To top it off, there was some over fried calamari all stuck together.
Tried it once, never again.
