Pontillo's Pizzerias, Sarasota

Former WNYers PLEASE READ: My wife are former Rochestarians and Pontillo's was our favorite pizza. We came from Jacksonville for the long memorial day weekend with one of the main goals being to purchase 5 large pizza to bring back with us. We had just found out about this location and we read the reviews stating it was the same as it was up north, but when we got there realized things must have taken a drastic turn for the worse. The pizza was thin, nasty and tasted absolutely nothing like Pontillo's pizza. It was so disappointing. I am not sure if the ownership changed and they decided to just do away with the original recipe altogether or what the deal was, but they shouldn't even be able to use the Pontillo's name. I wanted to be sure to post this review in case any former WNYers planned to take a road trip just for pizza. If so, do not go here. Luckily we found another former hometown place in Riverview that was perfection and exactly like home, but I won't mention the name here. If you're looking for Rochester style Pontillos Pizza, this is not the place for you.

Love Pontillo's pizzas. Very good amount of product on the pizzas as well. Keep up the great work...and I'll continue to be a regular customer with all the rest. Thank you for bringing this to florida!!
