I dont know if the food has declined since the previous comments or if Floridians have absolutely no idea what Mexican and /or Tex-Mex is supposed to taste like. Mi Adobe has terrible food and that's being generous at best. The arroz con pollo was just that, rice and chicken, but instead of being a cared for delectable dish, it was mushy spanish rice that tasted of tomato paste and boiled chicken that they use for everything with some sort of runny sauce on top. YUCKY! Had to pay extra for tortillas as well. Albondigas...I dont even want to think about it...looked like puke. Friends had enchiladas and rellanos with rice and beans; everything came out like mush with no discernment between anything, bland unflavored meat, sauce out of a can. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I cannot believe any self respecting chef/cook/owner would allow this sort of slop to come out of the kitchen. Anyone who knows anything about authentic Mexican food would not be fooled my such a mess....it's really insulting to think that they are passing this stuff off for the real deal. Save yourself! Do not go here.
HORRIBBLE!!! Save your money and eat at Taco Bell. Trust me, TB is better. The food was bland and unseasoned. It was like eating canned Mexican with no seasoning. The beef was dry and similar to crushed gravel. Chicken was dry and stringy. I ordered the chimichonga and it was served soggy. Tacos were dry and soggy. Enchaladas were bland and chewy. Beans were runny. Rice was overcooked. It was like everything was prepared hours if not days before, microwaved, and served. I will NEVER eat here again. It s amazing that this place has been around so long. Ate there on a Saturday night and was not busy. Even during snowbird season. There s a reason they were slow......because they SUCK!
Complimentary chips and salsa are a great start. I always get the nachos, as I have found none better. I have lived in SRQ since 1985, and have eaten here at least 100 times. We'll always be regulars at El Adobe!
El Adobe has been in Sarasota a long time; there must be a reason. I have eaten there many times and have never had a bad meal. The staff is always friendly and efficient and the prices are reasonable and you do not go away hungry. Once living in Arizona, where Mexican food is aplenty and the best, El Adobe stacks up to any AZ restaurant I have ever experienced.
We walked into the large restruarant and were greeted and quickly seated. We stared off with complimentary chips and salsa, the chips were fresh and the salsa had a bit of kick to it. We had chicken fajitas and they were excellent and the serving size was large (my 10 year old son and i split it and we were stuffed). My only complaints; I requested some hotter salsa and some shredded cheese for the fajitas, when I received my bill I had been charged $1.75 for the salsa and $1.00 for the cheese and after we got our food the waitress dissapeared-we had to ask the manager for our bill... oh well the food was worth it!
El Adobe has been consistent throughout the years with exceptional margaritas, food, and service. I ve seen many celebrities here and the owners don t treat them any differently than their other clients, everyone gets the same respect and treatment. The margaritas are Great!! The El Adobe has the friendliest waiters you will find anywhere. They don t nickel and dime you which is another refreshing aspect of El Adobe, you can have all of the, highly addicting, freshly made chips and salsa you want!
This place has a loooooong wait list at dinnertime, any nite of the week, so be sure to put aside some time to sip margaritas in the bar area. Great food, nice place. Good place to go with a group, less good for a romantic evening.
