I have been to the Tandoor a total of three times now. 1st time the experience was horrible! Food was over cooked, over priced, and we waited forever for our drinks, over cooked dinner, and check. My husband and I decided to give Tandoor another try in March of 2011 and we were so happy with our order. We were treated great, our waitress wasn't the greatest at refilling our drinks or bringing us napkins when we asked but we ignored that since our food was so great. A week later I had family from Pennsylvania come to visit and we decided to order take out instead of bringing our three babies out. We got Curry chicken and within a half an hour all of us were so sick. We couldn't stop going to the bathroom and throwing up. I will not be going back to the Tandoor after this incident. Please be cautious when eating there! I don't think it's the owners who are giving bad service I think it's the cooks and wait staff. I have nothing against hispanics or other race but if your going to sell Indian food have Indian cooks. The whole kitchen was Hispanic. Thats like going to a Chinese restaurant and having american's cook your food.
Wow! I have only one word to say awesome, loved it. I am visiting from Spain.I tried lunch Buffet last weak and went for dinner last night.Great food, excellent service. Strongly recommend it. Try it your self, will be glad you did it.
this restaurant is only ok. food is 3 out of 5. But the main problem is service its horrible, get ready to wait for 45 minutes to get your food on table also 15 min for just to get water. They ignored some people as customer- dont know why? i wouldn't go any more. But i tried at gateway of india during the same week on friday ( typically busy day) and it was wonderful service, food and price too. you wont go wrong.
I ordered a take out from here last night. While it is a little pricey, the end result is I don't care. The food was the best I have had since being in London's West End and although I placed my order at 9:30 at night and didn't get there until after 10:15 (they close at 10:00) they waited for me and were very happy to see me and polite about it. The Meat Samosa was crisp and hot even when I got them home 20 minutes after picking them up, and the meat was exploding out of them. The Lamb Korma was enough to feed Two very hungry adults and the lamb was tender, the sauce heavenly and the spices perfect.(Warning, I like spicy and the Medium spice was more than enough for me. If you are not into HOT spice order mild because they are a little heavy handed with the chili oil, NOT a bad thing as far as I am concerned) The Kahmiri Pillav was the most tasty rice dish I have ever had and there was so much after dinner was over we still had about half left over. (Not a problem, I am having it for Breakfast as I write this review and it got even better in the frige, the true mark of good Indian food as far as I am concerned.)The only complaint I have is the Nan was a very small quantity. It was delicious but for the price there should have been about twice as much. Over all I have to say that Tandoor is a rare find and is the best Indian Restaurant I have eaten at in the United States and is my Holy Grail of Indian Food. In fact it is one of the best meals I have had (from a restaurant) in a very long time. If you are reading this review from outside the area, get on a plane and try this place. It is worth the trip. I called my Uncle in Seattle and told him about the place and he is excited about trying it. (Although he's coming to see us anyways and isn't making the trip just for the food. LOL) I plan on eating at the restaurant this week to see if it is even better there, although I have a hard time believing it can be. I'll post again with my experience. EAT HERE if you like Great Indian Food!!!!!!!!!
Best Indian food I have eaten in Fla. Had to drive 60 miles to do so, but it was worth it!! I asked for a lamb Vindaloo, and got one, which is remarkable in itself for this State! (hot n spicy) The service was outstanding, clean and we will def be back. 1984 was my first Curry, and since living in America have only found good ones up in the North. Fla has been hopeless for good curries. Bear in mind I am not worried how much it costs, as so long as its good, Who wants cheap bad food? I never go to Buffets either. So its comforting to know, that when I want to eat Indian Curry, The Tandoor is the place for me!!
In a word NASTY! We found hair in the salad, dirty dish, food was cold, had to wait for the buffet to be set up after the restaurant opened, only some food items were labeled, and they refused to honor their coupon for a variety of reasons, none of which made any sense. Our worst experience in Sarasota.
Great food, nice people... really expensive. Yeah Indian restaurants generally are a bit pricey but I want to make sure people know I knocked down a star because of the really high prices of the dishes. It's very good food and warning, can be very spicy. It's basically the only real Indian restaurant in the entire area, which would explain their prices. You can always get a table, I've never seen many people there.
