Ambiance: First of all, the Creek is a great place to go for casual, easy-going dining. It's a little noisy on a busy night, but overall the ambiance is great. Slightly kitschy, but not too much. Try to sit outside near the creek, if possible.
Food: We visited here 3 times on our week long trip to Sarasota. We kept going back because the food was far superior to anything else around. Try the Blackened Mahi, if it's available: bar-none, the best filet of fish I've ever had. The oysters are good and very fresh. Stuffed shrimp, stuffed flounder, snapper were all excellent. The hushpuppies were great as well. I would steer clear of the crab cakes, which were average. My wife, who hates seafood, was able to find several entrees (steak, chicken) that were very good.
Price: The price was average compared to other local seafood restaurants. Entrees from $7-12, with a few more expensive entrees (mahi, swordfish) around $15-18. Pretty affordable.
Overall: A+++. The Creek is a phenomenal restaurant with fantastic seafood. This place is NOT a tourist trap. There were lots of native-Sarasotans there when we visited. In fact, a resident told us about the Creek and I'd strongly suggest it to anyone looking for great seafood in a great environment.
