Word of Mouth, Sarasota

After a fabulous breakfast here my wife and I very eagerly returned only to be ignored for 20 minutes. We had been seated by the owner himself and were ignored from that point on. No one came to take our drink order no one said I'll be with you nothing. People who were seated after us had already had food. After deciding to leave my wife told the owner who said that we were at an extra table and he didn't tell anyone to serve us. I'm sorry. If someone is sitting at a table that is always at the restaurant and have menu's for over 15 minutes shouldn't someone take notice including the manager who walked past us many times seating others. The food is great but we will not return ANY TIME soon. Their are way to many fantastic places to eat in Sarasota don't waste your time with such poor service.

Totally love this place!!!!! they have a LARGE menu. My favorite is the sweet potato pancakes or the buckwheat with chopped apples. Friendly service and owner makes sure you are pleased at all times!!!!!

We loved Word of Mouth. They offer all the traditional breakfast foods, including grits for you southerners and prepare them to perfection. All breakfast joints offer eggs, but not all cook them correctly. Our eggs over easy were just that, no hard yolks here (unless you ask.) One of the best side dishes is the fresh fruit bowl. It included cantalope, honey dew, pineapple (fresh, not that canned crap), strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. It tasted freshly mixed, not previously made where the flavors all start to run together. The giant cinammon rolls are good, available with or without nuts. My only comment would be that they would be better served warm. I could only eat half so took the rest home and quickly zapped in the micro wave improved it. We had no problem whatsoever with service although we were there off season so maybe that helped. We will definitely go back on our next visit to Sarasota. Word of Mouth and The Broken Egg are probably the 2 best breakfast places in the area.

LOVE IT!!!! Far and away our FAVORITE brunch place in Sarasota! We bring every guest we have from out of town, and they all agree, it's fabulous!!! Casual and cozy, we HIGHLY recommend it...the original location in Gulf Gate is our favorite, but they are all unique and delicious!
