My husband, 17 yr. old son and I went to Howard's for the first time on a Friday evening at 7:30pm. We ordered the Fish Fry. We got soup and the salad bar with it. We had the New England Clam Chowder and the Stuffed Cabbage Soup, they were both wonderful. The salad bar has several salads on it and greens and a few toppings to make your own salad. The salads all had great flavor and fresh ingredients. Then it was time for the fish. The fish was done perfectly and the fries were great. They serve the fish with tarter sauce, which was tasty and a lemon wedge. That was plenty for my son and I but my husband had another half a filet. After dinner I had a cup of coffee(excellent) and we had the tiramisu, rice pudding and the strawberry not so short cake. We left stuffed to the gills and will most definitely be back...soon! The staff was very nice also. Highly recommended.
We went back a second time and had the Gyro(awesome), the Burger Club(great) and the Reuben(WOW)! We will keep going...very nice staff, you feel like family.
We had a wonderful meal at Howard's Restaurant in Englewood Florida. So good, that this is definitely where we will be treating our relatives when they come to visit. We loved the healthy and tasty selections on the menu, and on the all-you-can-eat salad bar. The salad bar included stuffed grape leaves, a wonderful coleslaw - not your typical recipe, crab salad was delicious. The minestrone soup was to die for. We loved the sweet potato, and the cooked carrots were done just right with our entree. I had ham steak with grilled pineapple, my husband had pork loin, and my mom had a wonderful herb chicken. We had more than we could possibly eat for $10.99, and took the remainder home for a second meal. Outstanding!
I didn't expect to enjoying dining at Howards, but I was surprised. I had good service and was pleased with the salad bar. I felt the all you can eat crab legs were extremely salty and overpriced. I returned a second time and avoided the all you can eat crab. My only complaint during my second was the comfort of my chair.
Salad bar was lame and unimaginitive, mussels were disgusting, rubbery, and slathered with a goopy lemon sauce; salmon did bear a resemblance to salmon however, crab stuffed shrimp was a ton of breadcrumbs drenched in a ton of butter(grilled shrimp on top was decent though). Beer was excellent, as was the service. Good for families who want their kids to make a mess, and for those who don't mind mediocre food.
