Rum Bay Restaurant, Placida

Rum Bay is our favorite place to go on special occasions. The food has always been great. We especially love the ribs, shrimp, and the delicious pineapple butter and bread. Love taking our family and friends Boat trip is special with excellent guide who always tries to make our trip special.

I HAVE BEEN ON THIS COMPUTER FOR AN HOUR SEARCHING FOR YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION STILL CAN'T FIND THEM! I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULDN'T HAVE YOUR WEBSITE COME UP AFTER A SEARCH?? MAKES ME WANT TO NEVER COME THERE. ALSO CALLED AND THERE WAS NO ANSWER OR VOICE MAIL SAYING THE HOURS

We had our first Rum Bay experience this past July and I have to say that both my family and I were more than impressed. We have heard about Palm Island and how nice it was, and that the restaurant was under new management so we decided to give it a try. The island is so beautiful it took my breath away. We arrived on the barge and there was an attendant waiting with a golf cart and a smile ready to take us over to the restaurant. We were seated immediatly and the staff was so friendly. I had the Ahi tuna wraps, my picky son who likes next to nothing had one of their large selection of specialty burgers (and not only loved it but ate the whole thing) and my husband had the grouper sandwich. We also shared 2 appetizers that were out of this world! We didn't have to wait very long for our food and it was just perfect! I can honestly say that I cannot wait until next years summer vacation, because we know exactly where we are going!

Had dinner at Rum Bay and the whole experience was terrible. Asked for the new lunch menu because we had heard about the new burgers that were also available at dinner. Waitress reluctantly got the menu. Asked for the wine menu and she pointed to the table. Having been at Palm Island before, I knew there was another wine menu. I ordered a class of red wine from the menu. It had gone rancid. Knife on bread tray arrived dirty. Class of water had a crack in it. Cole slaw and tartar sauce were served at room temperature. Didn't eat either one due to concern over food safety with warm mayonnaise laiden food. Blackened group was so spicy could barely eat it. Rum Bay has had its share of ups and downs throughout the years but this meal was the lowest for us yet, which is a shame because it has a great location. They should work on the basics and not try improvements based on the number of menu offerings.

Went to Rum Bay, party of ten . service poor. took one hour to get bread and salad. meals were poor, cold. waitstaff was grumpy and unpleasant. won't return

We have been going to Engelwood, Fl for about 6 years now for vacation. We always eat at Rum Bay. The food is great and the ferry ride over there is also great. We have seen dolphins on every trip.. The restaurant is the best..

A favourite of many of our guests. On the 15 minute water taxi ride to Palm Island often spot Dolphins. Cocktails are lethal and food is BBQ style but excellent value.
