We ate there Tuesday, June 23 and had the swordfish special. It was truly outstanding - perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. If you haven't been there you are missing a great meal, prepared with respect for the food and the diner.
Very expensive, service is marginal, depends on which server you get. Food is interesting with unusual preparation which unfortunately does not mean it will actually taste good. Very pleasant open dining area. Not a bad choice if value for the dollar is not your primary concern.
This is an amazing restaurant. We happened to stop there for lunch one day and returned the same night for dinner. From the specials which can include lobster tail with lobster ravioli, to the macadami nut crusted grouper, ahi tuna, swordfish with tortellini and asiago sauce to the incredible soups, salads and well made cocktails, you can not go wrong here. We now eat here every time we go to Sanibel without fail. Only one time was something not cooked to order and they gracefully noticed and took care of it in a second. This is our favorite restaurant.....thanks. Staci Lewis White, Brooksville Florida
I can't say enough about how great our dinner was at Traders! Our daughter had a beach wedding at Sanibel. The night before, we hosted a dinner at Traders. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. We had a group of 25 and they accommodated us with 3 larger tables. Our waitress, Cindy, was very helpful suggesting appetizers and desserts for everyone to share. I was impressed with the food service. Usually with a large group, restaurants think of all three tables as one. So they will bring out the dishes for all three tables at the same time. This can be bad because an individual table does not get their dinners at the same time and everyone is – politely – waiting. Traders served by table. So every table got all their meals at the same time and could start – and then the next table got all their meals, etc. VERY well done! So the service was fabulous! Okay… let’s talk about the food. Everyone raved about the food. I had a great mahi mahi dish. Many folks had a stuff trout with ravioli and artichoke sauce. My fish-hating husband really enjoyed veal parmesan and there were kid-friendly items too. Great desserts! This restaurant exceeded my expectations! Oh… forgot… I also bought a beautiful bracelet in the gift shop that I get complements on every time I wear it.
traders restaurant on sanibel is, in our opinion the best restaurant on sanibel island. the food is soo good, and tastes fresh, especially the seafood. the nightly specials are unique and there is a variety to choose from. the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is exquisite!
And I live on island! I go here frequently for lunch because I can always depend on a fabulous experience. Service is wonderful. The restaurant is quiet and tables are spaced out nicely. The food is wonderful and the bread they give you as soon as you sit down is fabulous.
Traders staff and management are warm and welcoming, whenver we visit ( which is at least once every time we are in the Ft Myers area). The food is always creative and consistently fresh and delicious. Very well chosen wine list, with lots of great by the glass selections...Our pick for the best overall dining experience in the Sanibel /Captiva area....no place else compares.....The store is awesome...tons of handcrafted jewelry !
We just happened along on this place. We were not to sure, but hunger took over. I had the dcatfish special. it was so good, i made a pig of myself. Mom had the mahi mahi, it to was wonderful. The buger adn salmon salad sandwich was also very good. the gumbo was wonderful too. The store had some cute things too.
