Campiello - Naples
Housed in Historic Naples Mercantile Building, Campiello offers inventive Italian cuisine inspired by a traditional Tuscan country cooking, with an open kitchen and many wood-roasted and rotisserie-grilled specialties. Join us for the "Italian Taste Tour" - a series of month long culinary salutes to Italy's greatest regions. The restaurant features a lavish interior inspired by Michelangelo-designed Villa San Michele in Friesole, Italy-replete with Murano light fixtures, fine leather chairs and banquettes, polished Venetian plaster, and hand painted Florentine murals.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I am a full time local and I stopped going here about 2 years ago due to HORRIBLE reservation and seating system. Tried again Sunday afternoon at 2:30PM in between lunch and dinner. As I walked up I saw 7 empty tables outside- but was told I had to wait a half hour. HUH? Also were empty tables inside. So either (1) they do NOT know how to run a restaurant, or (2) no matter what they want you at the bar for a half hour first. Even when I have had a reservation I have been made to wait a half hour. Don't be disrespected like this- go to Handsome Harry's on 3rd. or Pazzo's on 5th- both have great food and GREAT and attentive service (AND are a better value). This place is now FOREVER off my dining list in town.
9/23/13: $160.95 to share a filet with my boyfriend, which was “gray” at best, share a wilted Caesar Salad! I had 3 House Chardonnays and Brien had probably 2 Stoley on the rocks. #$%$!?! The waiter was an #$%$! He suggested, “if you are going to SPLIT the filet, you might want to cut it in half AFTER it’s cooked!” Duh!!! He also told one of our other people in our party (of 6), she wasn’t allowed any half-orders of pasta and she has ordered (and been served this) several times…..#$%$?!? Also, I tasted another guest’s Short Ribs and it had to be DAYS OLD….so frickin’ DRY! Hate this place and the “Sarcastic-BoneHead-of-a-Waiter!”
I went there recent and my food was great. I had the BEST calamari that I have EVER eaten and I have dined at many fine restaurants. My entree was wonderful (penne w/ pulled chicken in Gorgonzola cheese sauce)!! My dinner guest did not enjoy their entree (shrimp w/ pasta in a red sauce - not sure of the name) but ate some of mine and enjoyed it as well. We did not have reservations but were seated immediately. We did not like the table so we waited less than 5 mins until we were seated. The service was GREAT!!! Our waitress was Dominique. OUTSTANDING!
Food was fair at best..small portions and service with a bad attitude, was my experience. We took 6 friends there that were visiting and were rushed when the server could be found and when we needed her it was hard to get her attention...way to much money for the quality of food...or service. I suggest you find a different dining spot .it is off our list for sure . we are full time residents and would not recommend .
