You Won't Be Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/06
We just got back from a two week visit and went to the Key Lime several times and were never disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful and offered great suggestions, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, the entertainment was good and the food was out of this world! It is a little more expensive than some of the other places, but you won't get mediocrity! The specials are delicious and different.

My husband & I ordered 2 pieces of key lime pie to go, as we heard they had the best. Well, the waiter rang it up & it was over $18.00. I asked if it was for a whole pie & he said no, that would be $36.00. After paying we went to our hotel. After thinking about it I think I was overcharged, because that should have been for a half of pie. Well, after eating it, it was not the best key lime pie I've had & we will not be returning there anymore. The pie at the Mucky Duck was only $4.50 for a slice.

Great Place, Slow Service
By Dani, 6/26/06
I loved everything about this small bistro except the very slow service we received on our visit. The ambiance is fantastic. Typical island decor, live music (on our visit it was a single guitarist), and great food (more than adequate selection). Awesome people watching location.

Best food on Captiva
By Lissette, 8/8/06
Forgo the Bubble Room's huge pieces of cake and sub-par food for the Key Lime Bistro's casual and islandly feel. Food is excellent, service is with a smile, and sitting outside when the weather is cooler is one of life's simple pleasures.

Very disappointing experience. We loved this place on our first visit about 5 years ago. However we just visited for the 3rd time and did not have a great experience. The place was dirty, service was robotic and unfriendly. We were charged 18% gratuity for a family of 5 (3 of them children). We were told the tuna was suisha grade and it was most definately not. Prices were way too high for marginal food at best. Will not be wasting our money here again. There are too many othere great choices on Sanibel and Captiva to waste your time here.

Gourmet at the beach!
By brian, 9/27/05
Sitting out under the stars, listening to live music while enjoying gourmet cuisine is hard to beat. Doing this only steps from one of the most beautiful beaches in the US is impossible to beat. Don't miss the Tiramisu and the Keylime Cheesecake for dessert. Sunday brunch is great also with a Mimosa or a Bloody Mary topped with lime, a scallion, and an asparagus spear.

We had dinner here over the Memorial Day Weekend & were very disappointed. We had one entree off the specials menu, grouper stuffed with shrimp & crab ($35). It was so dry that we only got thru 1/3 of it before giving up. To the restaurants credit, they took it off the bill. I ordered the tempura shrimp w. a horseradish-marmalade sauce ($26). Our waitperson warned me that it wasn't really a tempura, but more of batter. I should have listened to her subtle warning. The batter coating came out soggy & had no taste to it. The sauce had little taste except for its sweetness. The sad part is that under this muck were six large, tasty shrimp. The sides that came with the entrees were unremarkable. We didn't risk dessert. I hate to rap a place after only one meal, but feel I must warn others about this place. It sports an ambitous & pricey menu that the kitchen can't or just doesn't care enough to execute.

WORST dining experience on Captiva!!!
By Elle, 11/13/06
Ugh! We just returned from dinner at Key Lime Bistro, and we are NEVER going back. The food was overpriced, overcooked, overseasoned, and totally disappointing. The service was the absolute pits. We were ignored by our server for the majority of the meal, it took over 15 minutes to get our check, and then after another 20 minutes, I finally had to go up to the bar to get someone to run through our credit card. Worst of all, we were a group of 5 so an grossly undeserved 18% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. You're much better off at The Mucky Duck (for casual dining) or The Green Flash (for something more upscale). Don't waste your time or your money at Key Lime Bistro.
