Munch Box Plus, Fort Myers Beach

I also like to munch box too, especially at the beach!

What a waste! Didn't think it was possible to ruin eggs and toast but they did! Even the coffe had no taste! We beeen driving by here for years but most of the time it is closed...wish it had been closed today!

I actually found the atmosphere to be quite humid and damp. In addition to this, the floors were very slippery because they replaced the carpet with a more sleek bare look. However, the Boston Cream Pie was quite appetizing even though the filler was a little runny. I agree with the previous poster in that you can bury a couple of sausages here and then head around the corner to Brown's Desserts for a happy ending with a fudge sundae (best served with salted nuts on top). The tossed salad, while excellent on the lips, had a little too much ranch dressing for my taste. Also, if you order the bearded clams, request that they be served with a bare pickle because they can be spicy at times. The only time I won't go down to the Box is during Red Tide because it smells like dead fish.

In case you havent been there lately, this is a quaint, inexpensive, casual place with a family environment. It has been owned and operated by the same family for 22 years, and remains one of the best diner-style, limited-menu eateries that I have ever experienced. They have redesigned and remodeled , with beautifil swag curtains and stained glass suncatchers in every window. Depending on where you sit, you have a view of the local hotels, movie theater, and of course, theGulf of mexico across the street. The food is down-home, fresh and always quick, hot, and served with a friendly and appreciative manner. I prefer fresh fruit and the always delicious tuna salad, but whatever you decide to have...GET THIER FRESH ICED TEA!!!!!! You wont be sorry.

My main problem with the Munch Box is that it's very old. The curtains are ratty and hang too low to the ground, the inside is dry and cracking, and to top it all off there are some weird bumps that shouldn't be there. Oh, and a word of warning: stay away from the crabs! But I will say that when I'm running short on time, I like to get a big steaming roast beef sandwhich, extra meat, and slather it with dressing, and then dive right in! If you have the time, hit up the sushi place down the street for the Bukkake special. They've only been around for about 17 years so you get that tight, cozy atmosphere. Kampai!

I loved the way the sausage slid right into the buns. The creamy tartar sauce got all over my wife's face.

The clams were exquisitely bearded, and the tuna salad was perfectly salted. Five stars!

I don't know why this place is getting all these great reviews. First off it always smells horrible at the Munch Box. Nothing is worse than going down there and having to deal with the rotten smell of hot garbage. Also, some landscaping wouldn't hurt. Would it kill them to trim the bushes once in a while, or sweep the parking lot? It looked like there was a skeet shooting competition right outside. Finally, the food is mediocre. I would rather munch the carpet on the floor than eat at the box, and I love to eat out. If I had to recommend something off the menu it would definitely be the tossed salad. Also, I agree with the previous poster, the tartar sauce is the creamiest and messiest in town, a money shot you can take to the bank.
