Terrible food, terrible service. We get some kind of sandwich with pork meat which was not edible so we ask the waiter if she can change it.What a surprise she said no and you have to pay for it (just like this).
It was bad smelling and definitely not fresh.
Anyway we didn t pay for the meal which we didn t eat and we left there money just for the drink.
I guess the personal are cuban people and they have no idea what Porto Rico is.

Don t go there ever! This is dangerous for your health and personal are definitely crazy. You will wait 40min at least for your order. The meat is old and bad smelling. They do review on Internet them self’s so don t believe if you see good reputation. The chef looks drunk and very dirty. Just stay fares you can from this place. Believe me.

Went last Friday night. I love good mofongo. Their's was very good along with the pork chunks. Pork was also very good. Black beans were OK, but not great. Sweet plaintains were good. Wife had the fried chicken breast pieces -- a little dry, but tasty. Remainder of menu was appealing enough that we will return. Prices are very reasonable. Most patrons were Hispanic, but waitress was quite English fluent and menu is both Eng/Span. Even if not familiar with some of the dishes the menu is pretty self-exlanatory. We will go back and try more. BTW, they also featured a whole red snapper which was the most expensive meal on the menu at $16.99. May try that next.

This was my first visit to El Pilon. It is located in the shopping center on the corner of Colonial Blvd and Cleveland Ave. I was surprised to learn that this restaurant offers all the goodies of Puerto Rico. From the island juice drinks to the pastries too. I had the small pieces of fried pork with plantains (monfongo). I also had a potato filled with meat (relleno de papa). The food was delicious. For the price, the plates are around $10 and for the appetizers, they were inexpensive. It is a family restaurant. Not all the staff speaks English well but are very friendly. In fact, the menu is in both languages. The atmosphere is inviting. It is not a fancy place, but is welcoming. So, if you have not experienced the food of Puerto Rico, here is your chance. You will not be disappointed.

Don't go for the ambiance, there is none. You should either know how to speak spanish or bring someone who does, but the food is completely worth it! Authentic spanish/mexican food with great flavor and reasonable prices!
