this is a good little place with really fair prices - the service can vary a bit but i usually get what i want - eat the ranch dressing on your salad and order the chicago oysters - the coconut shrimp are excellent too - inside piano bar is a rare treat for anyone so is the fish tank behind the bar - you can smoke, eat, dance and drink outside while inside is smoke free with dining, drinking and dancing - i enjoy dancing here and the food and drink are good enough -
Don't bother. The service is awful. We are residents of the area and have been there twice in the last year, both times the service has been awful. First time we walked out after twenty minutes because of now service when there were only three other tables in the whole place. Today we had a table of eight. Ordered an appetizer and no plates came. Finally got the hostess attention who got us plates but not our server. The pasta on the entree was cold and the swordfish was lukewarm. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.....go to to PJ's or Conch Republic on North Redington Beach and enjoy yourself!!!!!
For many years during our Florida vacation we looked forward to going to JD’S for dinner. We were greeted when we arrived and seated at a nice location. I ordered Calm Chowder and Seafood Alfredo over pasta for a main course. The clam chowder was watery tasted like cornstarch and potatoes “The worst I ever had anywhere.” I told the waiter and he said he would tell the chef and that was the end of it. The Seafood d Alfredo was supposed to consist of scallops, lobster and shrimp, the scallops were awful, Couldn’t find the shrimp and what I think was lobster was a mushy piece of food (I suspect it was pre-cooked or was not even lobster. I paid my bill and left and will never go their again,
I have eaten at JDs HUNDREDS of times in the last 15 years. I have NEVER had a bad meal. None of the food is very fancy, but it is reliable and delicious every time. Jay the owner is a workaholic and makes sure he is there to oversee the quality every day. Thanks JDs.
I have been going there for years(at least 15) and always enjoyed both the piano bar and later on the back patio bar. However, the g/f and i ate inside at the main restaurant and the food was the worst i could ever imagine.Nasty pre-battered,frozen shrimp, cmon, how hard would it be to make fresh shrimp, fish and other seafood, i'll never eat there again, but i will be back often at the back bar and the piano bar p.s. keep the salad It's great
This place is AWFUL. Lousy food, service and prices. Back area, which is outdoors, still manages to be a filthy, smoke-filled pit with a bunch of loud-mouthed, obnoxious boars a plenty. You've been warned!
My husband & I have been going to JD's for years with alot of our friends and I finally have a complaint. We love the food and Phil at the piano bar is the best in town. In the past month things have gone down hill for us. Something has changed, maybe a different group of people. We cannot enjoy Phil anymore due to out of control women at the piano bar. One women is so loud and chatty that Phil cannot play. I have heard alot of customers complaining about the same thing. I just wish management would do something about this cause we love jd's and visit at least 3 times a week. Phil deserves a better audience. Casey and Carol are great! We would love to sit at the piano bar again
Don't waste your time if your going to the early bird specials. I had the meatloaf which I have had better, my wife had the shrimp and sent it back. It tasted bad, she asked for the three piece fish listed on the early bird dinner and got a chewy one piece cod instead. Never got a refill on the water that we asked our waiter for so we left unhappy. When we called and told them, they said we should have complained but I didn't want to complain anymore.
