dirty dirty dirty...there was molded bacon on the windowsill...the carpet is nasty (so are the booth seats) and the girls handicap bathroom stall door is hanging on its hinges! A person in my party found something in their pancakes that she would not even tell us what it was it was so gross.
My husband and I ate at this restaurant a week or so ago. We were pleasantly surprised at the friendliness of the staff. The food was priced very reasonably and good. We would compare it with a Perkins restaurant. We will go back and look forward to it.
It’s Tuesday morning at 8:30 and the four of us arrive at the Clock Restaurant in Auburndale, Fl for our weekly Polk County area breakfast or lunch outing. None of us had ever eaten in this Clock location before. My wife ordered eggs benedict and they were perfect, including the hash browns. The other orders were eggs cooked scrambled and over light, pancakes, sausage and bacon. Everything was cooked correctly and very tasty with reasonable prices. We left about 10am very pleased with our weekly choice.
The service was very good and friendly with a very experienced staff.
The booths and decor could do with a renewal but it will do. We didn’t go to the Ritz!!
All and all we gave the Clock Restaurant a big thumbs up for food and service.
I have been in the restaurant business most of my life. From serving to managing. I have eaten in many different restaurants as well. I ususally like the smaller hole in the wall type restaurants as this one is. I have tried to eat here over and over giving them the benefit of the doubt. However, it is incredibly dirty and some personal hygene is an issue as well, at the Auburndale location. If you don't like something, no problem, well at least not for them, because you are stuck with it, whether it is a bad product, poor cooking technique, cold, old, dryed out or a bug just crawled across it. If you need a manager, they are sure to run the other way and send the server to do their dirty work, informing you that you are not getting this issue fixed, and if so it will be minor, like a free coke. It seems the good servers here do not have a chance, which there are only a handful of them, by the way. The management team certainly needs to go get some real training on how to become more effective and become better at people relations. You can tell that the male manager is only interested in pretty ladies and seems to make passes at us, as well as advancing publicly to his female staff members ( by touching, rubbing them and making comments that are unbecoming of a person in any authoritive position.), not what you want to witness while you are trying to stomach the food in itself! Guess he thinks he has been there so long no one can ever rid him of his power, what a tragedy for the company. Just makes for a worse experience. It is a real shame that a better more effecient management team is not in place at this store as I believe this store can be turned around with proper care. It seems like the owners have just let this restaurant go, like they really do not care about anyone, guests or their very own employees. The food is priced fairly and the amounts are good, it is just a shame the execution and consistancy is not there.
We are locals and visit the clock resteraunt on a regular basis, they have a great atmosphere (Breakfast, lunch, dinner) anytime, all shifts, no matter wat, you can expect a friendly and down to earth service from all the ladies,we mostly visit during the evening shift and and they are so friendly we know most of them by name, sondra, patty, kelly, april and more, they just make you feel like family, i have to give them all kudo,s on the late shift for dealing with some interesting people, sometimes you can get a dinner and a show lol,but but the ladies seem to handle all and refill your cup with a smile, theres not a better cup of coffee around, so from all of us thank you and well see yall at the clock!
Absolutely awful experience: everything was bad, even coffee.
I could not finish ANY meal I ordered – smelled bad, tasted bad , too much oil,
I will never go there again, neither in Auburndale nor anywhere else – banned forever.
I've been going to The Clock since I was a teenager. I don't get to go now as often as I used to due to a full-time school schedule, but when I'm studying in the middle of the night and I get hungry, this is where I go. The waitresses are so nice and friendly - they ALWAYS remember you. The food is what you'd expect from a short-order diner, but it's still really good - I'm even a vegetarian and I can still find great choices. There's a reason this place has been around for decades!
The Clock is the type of restaurant which has just about everything on the menu. You can have breakfast there 24 hours a day. The food is really inexpensive for the quantity and quality you get. Also, check out the specials that they have posted as you enter or ask the waitress. The Clock in Auburndale is clean and well managed. The typical serving is large and the price is well below average. I have also found the taste of the food to be very good. It is difficult to find anything wrong, other than sometimes of the day it is rather crowded, but the wait time is very limited. If you are looking for someplace to eat 24 hours a day, this is the place in Auburndale, Florida USA.
