Located in the heart of Gulfport, Tangelo's Grille has been our passion for more than twenty years. What began in 1986 as an 18-seat hole-in-the-wall, Tangelo's has evolved into a destination spot for tourists, snowbirds and locals alike, with indoor and outdoor seating, a tropical atmosphere and some of the tastiest food in the bay area. Every winter season, we look forward to seeing the familiar faces of the tourists and snowbirds we have come to know over the years - who have made Tangelo's one of their favorite Tampa Bay area attractions.
AWFUL!. Downtown Gulfport is really cool. We are locals and like to support our community businesses, but this place is terrible. We ordered Conch Fritters for an appetizer and they were so BADLY BURNT I was shocked they had the guts to even put them on the table. We are talking BLACK. The waitress dropped them on the table then took off. We waited to get her attention, but she was busy TEXTING. So I had to physically bring them to her. (interrupted her texting). The entrees were so so but the service continued to be bad. Then when we went to pay, we had a gift certificate that was purchased in October, 2012 with NO EXPIRATION date. They refused it with no reasonable explanation. If you want good cuban food, GO TO HABANA CAFE, also in Gulfport. Tangelos is HORRIBLE in every way
I remembered going to Tangelos down town St. Pete, having a good experience with decent food.It had been about 9 years...Me & my family were out enjoying the nice day in Gulfport, and decided to have lunch. I ordered the Grouper sandwich.Im pretty sure it was Catfish! It was about a millimeter thick, no flavor, dry dotted with bones. My first bite was a bone, yummy! My husband ordered the Cuban. He said there was no flavor, and the pork was an odd color..Our kids had mystery chicken nuggets, weird batter. They didn t even want to eat their lunch.basically spent $50 on fries ( only decent part of our meal) the service was good, felt bad she had to serve such sub par slop. Will not go again!Waste of money.
Love the new location in Gulfport. The inside is very bright and cheerful, and there are plenty of seats outside as well. Food is great, with some nice new menu items. Loved the conch fritters, will try the pumpkin ones next time. Great service, great beer and great food. Will be back soon.
This locals favorite peaks out from behind tall palm trees with it's vibrant Island colors. Once inside the amazing smells, kick a.. music and Ice ciold microbrews sweep u away to the islands. The entertainment outside is usually a street performe but inside the owners Mike and Lisa take the floor with hilarious bantor and interesting conversation. At the bar sat a waitress next to a local published author next to the editor... If u haven't been, it's worth the drive and if you're addicted to the MOJO I'll see you there since this is my new favorite hang out:)
The last review was in 2007 but it still holds true. I sat outside and the service wasn't that great.
I ordered the Crab Burger which basically fried dough that has corn in it. If I have to look very closely to find the crab then it shouldn't be called Crab Burger.
The waitress was taking an order over a cordless phone when she came over to give me my check. I needed a box for my leftover so I made eye contact, mouthed the words, and drew a box with my hand signal. I waited awhile, gave up, and went in and asked for a box.
The buser stood there and waited as I was boxing my lunch so he can take my dishes away.
I'm hoping that I ordered the wrong dish and got the wrong waitress because I was referred to a restaurant by someone who loves going there.
It took ten minutes before a server came outside and took drink orders. And not just for my party but the entire outside area. Want sauce or a refill on your drink? Your better off going inside and getting it yourself otherwise it could take up to 30 minutes before a server can bring it or remember to get it at all. The food is alright. The only problem I've seen with the food is the fact that their chicken buttitos have bones in them. Kinda gross. I walked away feeling like my buisiness was unwanted. I won't be going back to this restaraunt. A better choice is Caribbean Cafe wich is 5 minutes away. Just about any place has faster service and no bones in the burritos.
