Taste of the Islands Restaurant
Here you will experience island tastes, spicy and smoky, served in a restaurant that keeps the island flavor going in a brightly painted building with windows featuring artwork of island dancers. You can't miss them as you drive along 22nd Street South! Beer and wine is served along with a wide variety of island treats created by Jamaican chefs.
The service at this restaurant is absolutely terrible. I called and placed a take-out order one afternoon, and the lady answering the phone barely greeted me, then hung up abruptly after my order was placed. In person, she was sullen, walked away from me without even letting me know if my order was ready when I arrived, then began waiting on other customers that were seated, not bothering to acknowledge me still standing at the counter. When I finally received my order and paid, she didn't even make eye contact with me or acknowledge me when I told her thank you. I ordered the jerk pork meal, and it was tasteless. There was more fat than pork, and the rice and peas were flavorless. It was also lukewarm, and not made better by microwaving. It was a complete waste of money because I had to throw the whole mess out. To be fair, this was my second visit. The first time, the food was pretty good. I don't know if they're under new management or what, but i'll never patronize them again.
