Good Fortune Buffet, St Petersburg

Sat down for dinner and a cockroach ran across my plate, never been so disgusted in my life. Never again going there !!!

We eat here frequently, mostly in the afternoon. The place is always crowded. This buffet has it all. The food is fresh, never 'stirred' to make it LOOK fresh, if you know what I mean. Usually, it's gobbled up rather quickly and they are replacing it right away. There is nothing I have tried that hasn't been delicious. If there are people in your party who don't necessarily like ALL Chinese food, there are many other choices for them. I do believe that is the success of this place. We always get plum wine, and I think it is probably one of the best brands I have ever had. Always cold, and if there is more than 2 in the group, they bring a chilled carafe. Very nice. Our plates NEVER sit on our table, they are taken away immediately. Nor have I ever seen any plates sit on any other table, and we have been coming here for a long time, about once a month. The service is quite good. This is a nicely decorated place also, very roomy, clean and booths and tables to choose from. The only thing I would suggest to management, is to tell the gals to SMILE. It would make all the difference in the world. Definitely worth stopping in. Excellent food.

I had the misfortune to try the Good Fortune for dinner the other evening. I should have known when I saw the filthy windows and doors that I had made a bad choice, but I went in anyway. That was my first mistake. My second was when I ordered a 1/2 carafe of Taylor Chablis. I had already been to the buffet and was halfway through the first plate and I still had no wine. I called the waitress over and she told me the wine would be a few minutes. About 10 minutes later, I saw the manager walking in with two gallons of the Chablis which he had purchased at the Winn-Dixie next door. I guess I was supposed to wait for them to chill it, also. I ordered a beer instead. I had been to the buffet once and finished my first plate. I don't know about you, but I expect a waitress to clear my empty plate away before I get back with my new one. That does not happen at the Good Fortune. Even though there were only a dozen people in the whole restaurant, discarded plates abounded at all the tables near me, and no one was in any hurry to clear them. The couple in front of me had at least 4 empty, dirty plates on their table. The buffet is probably about a 5 on a scale of 10 as far as these places go, with many dishes unidentified. Take my advice, if you are looking for a Chinese buffet place, this is definitely is not it. Try the Super Buffet at the Seminole Mall in Seminole. Nice clean place for the same money and you don't have to wait for the manager to go out and buy your warm wine..

By far the best buffet in Florida. I love the Sushi and I was never a sushi eater. Problem-they don't have enough sushi with cream cheese and they won't replenish until ALL the sushi is eaten, and some of it is pretty unpopular. They are reasonably priced for lunch, but if you want crab legs and the high end items, it priced normally. Mussels with mayo are awesome, never thought I'd say that!

One word. EXCELLENT. A HUGE variety of food. Super nice salad bar. Chinese...egg rolls/spring rolls, mixed vegetables, egg foo young, fried rice/white rice, general tsos, sesame chicken, sweet sour chicken, pepper steak, cabbage and corn..and more. Sushi, some Italian, two types of fried potatoes, french fries and onion rings, pork chops, sliced beef, meatballs, chicken wings, wrapped hot dogs, raw shrimp/mussels, clams...fried fish/salmon...delicious desserts. Something for everyone. This is a big restaurant, with alot to choose from. It is nicely decorated, and no matter where you sit, the acoustics are such that you are able to maintain a conversation even if the place is full. It's set up in such a way, that you have privacy, and can truly enjoy yourself. Stop in and check it out. You will not be disappointed. Also, good prices...and service is good. We always get our drinks re-filled, and our plates taken away immediately. I love this place! Try it, you will love it.
