Ajanta Indian Cuisine
This new Indian cuisine dining spot is a welcome addition to curry-hungry Pinellas County. Both lunch and dinner menus feature such options as Rogan Josh Lamb, Dal, Biryani plus chicken and breads hot from a tandoori clay oven. Full dinners and a la carte selections are available evenings. On Sunday, the restaurant features a lunch buffet. There's a full bar here, too. If you're thinking of joining the lunch bunch here, call ahead to be sure the tandoor is fired up.
The Ajanta Indian Cuisine restaurant can be found within the Ramada in St. Petersburg. Jack, the Front Desk Clerk at the Ramada is always very nice and very helpful. He always goes the extra mile for his guests at the motel. He will give you suggestions as to the best dish to order. His favorite is the Buttered Chicken. Jack will assure you its the best around. You should stop by and check it out sometime!
Visited them for lunch buffet last week. Food is average. They have lost their cook who used to make the great food they were famous for, to Jai Ho Indian cuisine in Tampa. So now their food quality is just average. Their service always was, and continues to be, terrible. Visit at your own peril.
In short: average food, terrible service. The buffet is fairly good, although not very hot. The dishes are kept warm using portable serving dishes and sterno. The other reviewers are dead-on with respect to the poor service. And, for goodness sake, don't call and ask for their hours. I got yelled at and hung up on! Unfortunately, there is simply no great Indian dining in the Tampa Bay area. So if you must have your Indian fix, this place will do...but only if you're desparate.
Food is pretty good at this place, although I admit the service is patchy. I have noticed that a lot of people complain about the buffets in indian restaurants? I don't ever go for buffets, they are always cheap, for a reason!! I choose a dish that I am familiar with and try that. By the sounds of it, buffet food is terrible!!
Wish I'd read the reviews here before I went to Ajanta for dinner. The food was really good, but the service was the worst I've had at any restaurant in the St. Pete area. The waiter was unfriendly, and walked away when I was in the middle of ordering my dinner. I had to wait for him to come back so I could finish. Slow arrival on the food and the check.
I love Indian cuisine, but I won't be going back to Ajanta.
Food is good but the service VERY poor! The people serving you have least amount of intrest on whether you need water or anything else! They just leave the food on the table & dissappear! They don't even smile at you!!
The place is ok nothign to tell mom about! Service size is samll. you would think the average dish is $ 13.00 and you get serve a small bowl of chicken which you have to conserver so it will last. I have never had enough food to take home. to bad tampa does not have enought Indian resturants,
