Crabby Bill's Seafood
Step off the beach and into a world of seafood delights. While you can't believe everything you hear over the loudspeaker about the sights on the beach, you can trust your taste buds when it comes to the quality of the food. Everything's fresh and delicious here with plenty of options available to appeal to every appetite. Start with an appetizer of Maryland crab cakes, then try one of the crab dinners, a restaurant specialty. Be prepared to sit at picnic tables and join in the fun.
BEWARE of paying by CASH at this restaurant. I visited Crabby Bills back in July while on vacation and this was our 2nd day in a row to have dinner there. We paid our $60.00 bill with a $100 bill and was accused of paying with COUNTERFEIT MONEY. The managers called the police and everything. Embarrassed us in the parking lot with mutiple police cruisers and us being questioned. Needless to say after the bill was handed over to secret service IT WAS REAL!! We were just notified last month after the investigation was complete. So now we have to drive back 150 miles during the week, during business hours to retrieve our money from evidence at the police department. I have contacted customer service several times and have also emailed the CEO Matt Loder with no response, not even we are sorry for our mistake!! Never again will we step foot in this place!!
We were in town visiting family and my uncle wanted us to have a true dinner experience on the Gulf. Well, what a dump! Sits between two beautiful lovations, unlandscaped and run down. Takes away from the beachy experience. Waited 2 hours to sit, ordered apps at the bar (nothing seafood) and everything we ordered tasted like fish. It was gross. Finally get to sit and order at 930 pm and it was so dark we could not see what we were eating. Surprised when our food FINALLY came, was surprised at the price we were paying it all came on plastic and paper plates. Just not a great dinner experience for our last night there. Server and food runner were very nice, but when serving our food my 1/2 of mu uncle s food got dumped on the floor. I normally don t write reviews because I am a server myself and have been in this industry for 20 plus years, but this was just a disappointment.
When I asked a few locals where to go for Stone Crab I heard a couple of times to go to Crabby Bills. So we went. The opinion in our group is divided. I say no way was my dinner worth $30.00. The stone crab claws were only ok, the green beans overly peppery and our app of shrimp and feta fondue, was most certainly NOT FONDUE, and too salty to even finish. When asked how it was we did mention it a5jrnd the server asked the manager to come by and check on us. That was thoughtful. However we still paid for it. I probably would not go back. I know this a popular place but there are plenty of other resturants to try.
Today around 1:00 pm myself and a party of 3 more had lunch at Crabby Bills. I have eaten at that location previously over the years and never been impressed. Most recently the Crabby Bill location I was use to eating at was on 4th st in St. Petersburg and got excellent service and excellent food. So I was expecting the same and not only was the service unimpressive the food was deplorable. I think the name of the restaurant should be changed to Crappy Bills. We were told we had a 10 - 15 minute wait. No problem however the room was only 50% filled at best. Seated with two of our party taking beers obtained from the bar with them. The other two members had nothing to drink. After a 10 minute wait and numerous people being seated and drinks being brought to them and orders taken. I asked a waitress going back to the kitchen if the waitress in our section had quit in the middle of her shift and they didn t realize it she came to our table took the two drink orders and four orders never writing anything down. Our food came all 4 orders not exactly as we really had ordered and tasting like institutional food. Our total order was about $97.00. We left $110.00 even tho we felt the food and service was horrible. None of us will ever be back and I will make sure everyone I know is aware of this.
We ate at Crabby Bill's in St. Pete Beach on the evening of 1/30/2012. After waiting forever to have our orders taken, the waitress gigglingly told my husband that he made a good choice with the sweet potato fries, because they all loved to eat them off the plate as they walked by. We should have walked out then, but stupid us, we stayed. We kept running out of drink waiting for our food. She finally came with the food 30 minutes later and deposited it on the table. We didn't see her again for 45 minutes. My fish was like leather, and she just shrugged and asked if I wanted another. I told her that since my husband was finished eating, of course I didn't want another piece. She left, and, instead of coming back with a manager, she deposited the bill on the table. If Crabby Bill's were the last restaurant left in St. Pete Beach, I would rather eat peanut butter and jelly!
We've been coming to St. Pete Beach for 15 years. We stop in at Crabby Bills each time. But this could well have been our last. Over the years the price leeps going up and the quality keeps going down. Service was great tonight - the place wasn't busy - but the bartender was so loud and obnoxious we couldn't eat and leave fast enough.
I was there 2 weeks ago. Went out for a nice dinner. Crappy Bills was close and had heard good things. My experience was terrible. From the waiter that completely ignore us, our requests. Had to ask a young lady to take our order. Waiter wouldn't bring tarter sauce. Again asked young lady. Finally complained to manager and made cash payment to him, since I believed the waiter would again ignore us and my change. Wouldn't dare trust him with my credit card.. The scallops were bad, as a result illness set in later in the evening. I'll find another place on St. Pete Beach to eat at next time. My worse night eating out.
My husband and I fished all morning, then brought our catch to Crabby Bill's in St Pete Beach.......they cooked it up for us, added some delicious rice and fresh peas, a couple of big mugs of ice cold beer, and we were in heaven!!!! After 3 hours of pure joy overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and the sugary white beach, we left, not having spent $25!!!!!! We will return again and again.
they have been around 28 years they make more money in a year than you will make in a lifetime. trust me they have no reason to cheat if they said its pompano I would bet a million dollars it was pompano. There great owners and very honest. I dont think they need business like you...go home
I agree with the other reviewer they should cange the name to Crappy Bills. My wife wanted crab legs and we are thinking a place with Crabby in the name should have good crab legs, WRONG. They were rubbery and you could tell they were very old. I had fried flounder or should I say fried breading I was having a real poblem finding the flounder. We saw our waiter twice once when he took our order and once when he brought our check, never ask how our meal was I think he was afraid to. Don't waste your money, the place is quite expensive, there are a lot of better places to eat in St. Pete Beach.
