Ted Peters Famous Smoked Fish
This regional favorite features fish smoked on the premises in an adjacent smokehouse. Try the Smoked Salmon, Smoked Mullet or Mackerel. You can also buy these packaged to take home from your vacation. Dinners are served with the restaurant's traditional German Potato Salad, plus coleslaw, pickle slice, tomato, sweet onion, and lemon. If you're devoted to landlubber fare, the restaurant also offers hamburgers and grilled chicken sandwiches. Beer's on tap here. Bring cash; credit cards are not accepted.
I had my first smoked fish from here, in 1954, when my Grandparents starting staying on Treasure Island, every winter, Pop always made it one of hes first stops after we got down there. . I got to revisit Teds in 2006. Can wait to get back.
The best, my favorite! Get a cheeseburger (plain) with german potato salad and a root beer. After that, go next door and get smoked mullet to go for dinner! Not a fancy place, very casual - come as you are - and when it's hoppin' don't expect to be treated like your a queen or a king . . it's hurry up so someone else can eat too! But it's so good, time isn't a factor because you just wolf everything down . . . the best.
Love Ted Peter's Smoked Salmon. You do not have to go to restaurant to purchase the smoked fish. You can go next door to the smokehouse and purchase it there. I have read many of the critiques and I do have to agree with the rudeness of the people in the restaurant. My husband and I just got done purchasing $38 in smoked fish and we were thirsty. We went next door to the restaurant and sat on the stools at the bar. My husband asked for a beer and they told him that he could not sit and have a beer unless he orders food. He explained that we just bought smoked fish next door and wanted a beer. They said no and were not too nice about it! My husband had some kind words for them, if you know what I mean!
My husband walked across the street and purchased a beer from the gas station. Good service and good food go together. Without one, you do not have much. I do not know how they stay in business. Some people may just like rude people!
I LOVE Ted Peters. I'm local and I don't get there as much as I should because I always forget it's there. But the other day I got a burger from a local place people like and decided, THAT is not a burger. Gotta get back to Ted Peters!
Ted Peters has always been a stop for us whenever we come into the St.Pete area. Have been coming for 45 years. I remember when oysters were 13 for a buck and you could get a beer for a buck too boot. Big juicy fat succulent oysters. And at John's Pass seafood you could buy oyster by the sack-full. Dem was da days my friend.
