I had heard of this restaurant for a year since moving to St Pete.....was supposedly one of the best in the city. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went last evening...... a] atmosphere is good but where we sat in an adjoining dining room, the wall AC unit was sooooo loud that table conversation was very difficult. b] the food was not good at all..Philly cheese steak fell apart and was not tasty at all...others at my table said their meals were not good....and they would not be back. c] service....the young waitress gave the impression she could care less if we ordered or not....food came out way to slow to us. So in summary, none of the four of us will go back. Food is not that good; very limited selection on menu...aint worth it! JTC

I think this place has been riding on its old reputation and the good memories it must hold for locals because I nor my husband enjoyed the burgers. We will never visit El Cap again as we didnt finish our food nor did we pack it to go.

Possibly the best burger in the Tampa area. Wait staff is friendly, cook who has been there for 23 years even came out to see if everything was ok. Will gladly drive 45 minutes anyday to get a delicious old fashion cheeseburger at a great price!!!!

Dirty restaurant. Waitresses more than rude, just plain mean. they act as if you are a burden for coming in to eat! Nothing is worth putting up with the way you get treated. food usually cold, but that could be due to the poor service. The wait staff must make great hourly wages because they sure don't work for tips.

this place is awful the kitchen looks dirty and the burgers are ok the worst thing is i dont know which would be more expensive, The burger or the hospital bill you would aqcuire after eating there.No, really there burgers are quite expensive it cost me and my wife over $30.00 for 2 burgers 2fries and 2 drinks and they really are not that good. Everyone raves about this place and it left me scratching my head and wondering if they really had tastebuds in there mouth. Maybe years ago they were good but not now if you want a good burger try harveys on 4th st or chattaways there good and you definetly will go back

El Cap is horrible. Was once a St. Pete landmark, but when the old man died and his kids took over the business they ruined it. I can understand the 5 star reviews from 2005, but not from anytime lately. Harvey's 3 blocks from El Cap has better burgers and better service.

Best burgers ever! Every time I visit, I make sure to grab a couple. What's the secret?

Cheap good food, wish they had a larger menu, but what they do have its done right! Cool little place, prefer it as a bar with good food instead of a family restaurant!
