We went to the Fourth Street Shrimp Store for lunch one day this past week. Our mistake for arriving around 11ish. Not only was there a dog inside the restaurant (aren't there health codes to follow in St Pete?), but there was a pushy, dark-haired, 50ish waitress practically shoving us into some kind of backroom. We resisted and sat inside by the bar.
We were dining, catching up, but we could hardly hear each other for the shrill laughter coming from two women who presumably worked there (one was the dog's owner I later discovered). I was wondering where our server kept disappearing, nosy me. I peaked above a railing or edge of some sort and saw all the employees standing around peeling shrimp. Poor things. Don't they have machines for that?
Anyhoo, the only favorable thing I can say about the place is that the food was rather speedy. If you like watery scallops or undercooked salmon brought to you fast fast fast, this is the place to be!
I've eaten here a few times since moving to St Pete. The service is always good. The food is served quick. It is clean. And for the most part the food is quite enjoyable. It is however a bit over priced for the amount of food you get. Very small portions. However they do have a good deal on certain weeknights where they serve all you can eat crab legs. (it's the best time to go)
I've eaten several of their entrees. (I'm not a fan of fried shrimp) but their cocoa-nut shrimp is AWESOME! Their crab legs are always sweet tasting and the Peel and eat shrimp is Great too.
I also want to add that thier White Chocolate Bread Pudding is the best thing on the menu. Thinking for future visits as going there strickly for desert.
Would have given this place 5 stars if the portions were just a bit bigger for the hefty price.
If you want good seafood in a unique local atmosphere, this is your place. I love it. Bring friends, bring family. Try the grilled shrimp. Check the menu for special prices on special days, crabs, shrimp all you can eat. I don't remember which days but it's worth it to try it.
This is, without a doubt, the Best seafood place around! Have been going there since1989 and have found no other restaurant that compares in quality, quanity, price and service. This is our favorite
place to eat and recommend it highly to anyone looking for good sea
food at a reasonable price. Mushrooms & Onion Rings are the best.
Still looking for peanut pie pie. Everything I have had there is top
quality. They have clam chowder (I don't even like clam chowder) that
is excellent. Just recommended it to some folks visiting from Wisconsin. Took folks visiting from Michigan there a few weeks ago
and they thoroughly enjoyed the food. Everyone we have taken there
requests to go back on their next visit to Florida.
