First Chice Southern Bar B Que, Tampa

I ve tried at least six other true BBQ restaurants (that I can recall) in Tampa and this is the best of them all. All the others were disappointing to some degree, if you really like BBQ. First Choice can compete with the best around the U.S. The restaurant itself is a little nicer than most of the BBQ places that I ve visited in Tampa, but my # 1 priority is the food not the decor. It s a little hard to find your first time. It s back in the SW corner of the strip center close to Aaron s Rentals.

The last few negative ratings doesn't make sense to me...the proof is in the LONG line EVERYDAY that goes out the door. Don't let the negative comments posted here sway you from giving it a shot...I've been hooked for 10+ years...give it a try and you decide.

It is probably the best BBQ in Brandon, but the last 2 times I ate there, the staff behind the counter was very cold and rude. I had done nothing but place an order, so I have no idea why I got such a cold response. Makes you wonder...

This is the best BBQ around Tampa Bay, period. I've been coming here for a long time (10+ years.) The meat is always tender and juicy and the sauce is killer. The prices are reasonable. Sometimes the line goes out the door, there is a reason for that.

Don't go there on a restaurant.com coupon, they don't accept them. I went there because I had a coupon, and when I got there they would not accept it. We ate there anyway, and the food was ok, but nothing exceptional. Definitely not worth the price we paid.

The food was not impressive, I ordered the brisket, it was chop not sliced. It didn't taste like beef brisket I had in the past. It was more like cornbeef pinkish in color,(What's up with that!!!). The greens weren't good even with hot sauce. I prefer to eat can greens instead of that mess they're serving. It look like I have to travel to Texas or Kansas City to get a nice good juicy sliced beef brisket. Look like I have to go back to Busch Gardens,(The Smoke House) to get a nice brisket. At least there they dip the brisket in some type of onion sause & no need for BBQ sause. And that's how a brisket should be. But the Sweet Tea was awesome!!!

Not good. was a step up from woody's bbq and we all know that place is awful. I went on this website to find a place in Tampa that had quality bbq and read great things about this place and when I went I was very disappointed. the only thing that I thought was good was the sweet tea.

First Choice!... more like my last choice. maybe a little better than sonny's. Didnt like the bbq sause, didnt like the coleslaw, and didnt care for the baked beans. Bubba Que's is where its at!

Very good! Grew up in Alabama, lived in Texas and Kentucky. I've had good barbecue across the south and this is good BBQ. Sides left something to be desired, I'm sure others may find them delicious, I just felt something was missing. 4/5

First Choice was recommended to me 3 years ago. I thought we had good BBQ in Chicago until I visited this place. Since then, every winter I have gone as much as 80 miles out of my way to eat here. I leaned from the owner all the recipes were obtained from family members and they are OUTSTANDING! The place is hard to find in the corner of a shopping center but it is worth the effort to locate. You will NOT be disappointed.
