I worked as a server at royal palace and aside from the owner being a complete cheat and taking more than half my tips and calling it a tipshare , it was also a regular occurrence to see food taken off of dirty plates to be used in other dishes. When I spoke up about this I was told to stay out of the kitchen
My daughter first brought me here for the restaurant was having a fundraiser for the victims of the tsunami in Southeast Asia. I was amazed at the size of the menu.
It's hard to skip the appetizers or soups if you are just a couple, but the entree list is a monster since many dishes come with a choice of chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, squid or scallops. This place serves frog legs - which is not my desire - but some people do cart wheels over curry frog legs.
As for me, I love the duck - like Royal Palace Duck. The Damrongs Chicken Paradise got a high rating at our table. With this huge a menu, I can not imagine anyone going hungry at Royal Palace.
We just returned from Tampa for the 2nd year in a row, and of course had to return to Royal Palace since discovering it last year. It is the best Thai I have ever eaten. The spicy noodles, wonton soup, egg rolls, just everything is wonderful. We had no kind of language barrier, and our service was speedy. Of course, if the restaurant is packed, and they are preparing your dish fresh, then it's going to take a few extra minutes to get it to perfection, but that was not our case either trip. We love Royal Palace, and will return each and every trip we make to Tampa. We stay at Hyde Park Inn, and can walk there in just a minute. Hyde Park is so convienent to everything down there. You won't regret your stay there or your meal at Royal Palace.
I have had countless meals from Royal Palace and every one of them was consistantly delicious! There is no language barrier, unless you don't speak English...I mean seriously, gimmie a break. Great food and service to match. Two words...TOFU PANANG!!!
