Matoi Sushi, Tampa

I've been coming here for years. I've always been treated like family. Staff has always been extremely friendly. The restaraunt is always super clean. The sushi and korean dishes served here are AMAZING!!! Sam's (the owner) specials are unique and very flavorful. I try to get there at least 3 times a month. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great Japanese/Korean experience.

I tried sushi at several other Tampa restaurants. Matoi has the best by far!!! The fish is the freshest in the city. The presentation of food is excellent. And the prices are the lowest in town. Chef Sam is a master at developing special sauces that you will not find anywhere else. If you want the best sushi...go to Matoi and talk to Sam.

5 star on friendliness, 5 star on service, 5 star on food Came to town on Sunday 10/09 for a job interview the next day and decided to go out and get some sushi that evening. The Sheraton that I stayed in suggested Matoi. I sat at the sushi bar and had the chance to talk to Sam and Steve while I ate and they created sushi delites. Everything was great. Sam gave me a little sample of tuna w/ ponzu sauce to get me started and when I got done with dinner gave me a tempura with salmon, shrimp and vegetable something or other and it was awesome too. If you are near the Tampa airport... need to swing by Matoi and have a great dining experience Joey

I have been traveling to Tampa for 7 years and never miss the chance to have sushi at this wonderful restaurant. While serving on the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, I was responsible for finding the best sushi restaurant in whatever city we were in that weekend, so I have some experience in finding good sushi for demanding customers. The freshness and quality of the fish is extremely high and always prepared with exquisite attention to detail. The owner and chefs take the time to understand their customers and to create a truly wonderful dining experience.

Excellent service the entire staff is friendly and kind !! If your looking for fresh sushi this is the place to go. Other places serve fish that is not fresh and you will never know it..I highly recommend Matoi sushi!!!

Living at the heart of Los Angeles, CA, good food is a definite must have. I went on a summer trip to Tampa, Florida and my friends and I decided to go have dinner and went to Matoi Sushi. The food was great especially the sushi and sashimi. We got a seperate order later to finish our meals with udon which was absolutely delicious. The service we received was amazing. I was walking out from the bathroom and headed to my table when all of a sudden I had dropped my purse and everything had fallen out. It was all over the place and people were looking, but thankfully the waitress was so sweet and kind to have picked up most of my belongings for me. Bottom Line. Matoi Sushi is a must go if your in Tampa, Florida. I went twice again before I had left back for LA. The food and service was a great experience.

Just flew into Tampa from Kansas City, and couldn't check into the hotel until 3 p.m. I had heard about Matoi from a few web-sites and decided to check it out. This is hands down one the best sushi restaurnts I've ever been to. Great rolls, and fantastic cuts of Salmon and Tuna that I'm still thinking about. We'll be here in Tampa for 5 days, and we'll probably go back at least 1 or 2 more times. The owner and staff made us feel very welcome and prepared the dishes with attention to detail and flavor. I can't say more about this place other than it was simply the best. If you are in Tampa and in the mood for Sushi...there's no other place to go!!!

Greatest sushi in Tampa! The Steve Roll is the best. My girlfriend and I want to be there as soon as they reopen!
