Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi, Tampa

Jackson s Bistro-Bar Sushi ?... I love this place, it’s very good in making memories, a first date material! Service is casual but nicely done. Nice variety of specialty drinks as well. We were too full for dessert, but they had a good selection. We will definitely try Jackson s Bistro-Bar again and again.

Three words: Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. If you have not seen this show, take a look, and that's what I think Jackson's should be going for: a complete make-over... from the food to the service, to the clutter, to the attitude.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! This place is a SHAM! Yeah, the website looks nice and I hear rave reviews from friends and acquaintances. So, as a sophicated gentlemen who has good taste and enjoys fine dining, I decided to check it out myself. This was a Saturday evening. As I entered into the place, there were security guards that looked like thugs, then I sat down at the inside bar and met with a snivey female bartender who was bashing customers that had just left. Unprofessional. The steak that costed $35 was awful. The outside bar did not fair better. The bartenders and staff appeared like they did not enjoy working there. They were unprofessionally and awfully dressed for a place that portrays itself to be classy. Drinks are substandard. A classy place it is not. No dress code whatsoever for patrons or staff. The only good thing about this place is the waterfront view. Other than that, if you expect to be in a classy place with friendly and smiling staff, then you will be greatly disappointed, guaranteed!!! Not judging people, but if I wanted to see people with spiked up hair and mohawk, jeans and t-shirts, then I would had gone to a dive bar, which this place is right now. However, with better management, dress code, upgrade in food service and menu, this place can be a classy and lively atmosphere where I would love bringing a date for a very nice evening out. Only 1 star for the waterfront view. Good location.

WHY do I keep going to this place??? Probably because it's close to where I live and I wanted to eat by the water. Well, unfortunately, those are the only two good things about it. 1) My friend got diarrhea after eating here; 2) the $23 Mahi was dry and tasted bland (the $7.00 Mahi lunch special at Crabby Joe's was far better); 3) my friend's chicken was also dry and lackluster; and 4) the bread was stale. I left feeling really sad that I spent $70.00 on food that's bested by McDonald's or Taco Bell. On the up side, the drinks were quite good... the service was quite good... and the view was nice. My recommendation: go across the channel to Il Terrazo or down the channel to Tina Tapas or Gallagher's.

Sit out on the deck enjoy the scenery and the food. Everything was fantastic especially the drinks from the bar and the sushi!! Service was great even from the employees who where not waiting on us. Everyone smiled and for a first time vacation spot it was wonderful. Thanks Jackson's !

My husband and I were traveling through Tampa and heard great things about Jackson's, so we decidee to make a reservation for lunch. We were both very excited having heard such great things. I ordered a glass of wine and the glass I was brought was very spotty. We ordered sushi since that seemed to be their specialty. There was nothing out of the ordinary. In fact, we thought the menu was limited. We settled on 4 rolls to share. The waitress was unable to identify what roll was what when it was brought to our table. When we asked for more wasabi, we were brought old dried out crusty looking wasabi. To top it off, at the end of the meal the waitress asked if we were secret shoppers. She said she was afraid of getting in trouble for not knowing about the sushi. She mentioned that she messes up and gets in trouble a lot. We will not go back and we will not recommend it to anyone.

this place is ridiculous. horrible atmosphere and the food is severly over priced. if you like dudes w/ hair gel or money grubbing wanna be celebrity b@tches... it's perfect for you.

I have not eaten here but will and I will review about that also. But the night events in Back Jack on Satudays is just sooo cool. If you like Techno, Dance, House or Trance like music you can groove any Saturday here. It is wonderful.

Jackson's WILL give you a great view of the channel and Tampa General Hospital. On some nights like Fridays, you can also indulge in some of the easiest South Tampa hotties around (can you say beer pig?). The food however, is variable - usually just average but overpriced, but has been stellar for dinner twice though I never get sushi anymore. The sushi is laughable at best and definitely not the freshest...can you say 'let's make a bunch of funky rolls??' Avoid the weekend brunch - overpriced for what you get, unless all you want is a great view. The service is generally poor. Overhyped, overpriced, overplayed. I'm over it.

Downtown Tampa is woefully short of sushi; basically Jackson's is one of only two sushi places (the other is a brand-new place across from the County Center at Morgan and Jackson). fortunately, the sushi as Jackson's is excellent. The service can be spotty; they get overwhelmed when a big convention is in town.
