This is mine and my husband's favorite mexican restaraunt! We travel quite often and always make attempts to find authentic Mexican in other areas, haven't been successful thus far. We love the quality, price and quantity of the meals.
the previous reviewer must be a young taco bell diner, and doesn't realize real mexican food in mexico , Texas, New Mexico, tastes like and how it is authentically made. Get informed. Too much american tring to make cultures recipies.
We were not impressed with the food. My main dish was bland (shrimp burrito) and my rice was dry. My wife was unimpressed with her meal also. Portion size were good but we would not go out of our way to eat there again.
I was very disappointed with the food, and the prices are too high. If you want really good mexican food try Sabor a Mexico, just a stone's throw from Estela's in Brandon. It is wonderful and the prices are fair. They have a full bar as well.
I'm right there with fudgymcpoo - I moved here from California and was told that Estela's had great Mexican food - NOT. It was decent (at best) but not anything I want to go back to. I'd rather go and get me some Cuban or Puerto Rican food which seems to (for obvious reasons) be better in these areas. Go to Tapas in Brandon instead! It is DEE-LISH! I've tried a few other places for Mexican food and have yet to find a decent Mexican food place. When/if I find one, I'll come back here and let you all know.
I have been going to Estela's for some time now. I have always had good food and I tip well, I tip over $10 cash each time. I pay for my food with my Visa card, always. This time I happen to check my card and found out that Estela's charged me more than what I put on my card. So, I looked at other cards. Some were correct and some were changed, very strange to me. The restaurant has no words or comments at this time. PAY WITH CASH.
The atmosphere/decorations of Estela's was really the only thing great about the experience. I'd heard from a few that it was the best Mexican food in town... I just recently moved here from San Antonio with my wife and mother-in-law (both Mexican), and if this is the best Mexican food the area has to offer--I'll just stay home to eat. The entres only resembled Mexican food in theory--meat in a tortilla with rice and beans. It wasn't very good. Our server was a bit quirky as well. Bottom line: If you like real Mexican food, don't bother eating here.
The absolute best Mexican Food in town. My family eats here at least once a week and we are never disapointed. The prices are average, but the portions are huge. Try it atleast once and you will be hooked.
