went to Jacks for third time with 2 former new yorkers, one was visiting from Phoenix where
italian food is lacking authenticity, on a slow monday nite. The place is really a glorified
pizzeria.Friend ordered a slice of pizza, which he was craving to be brought before his entree,
never came in a timely manner and cancelled when main course was almost ready, waiter made
some lame excuse about still making pie, it was one slice and it was 20 minutes of no show on the slice Menu is not affordable, overpriced passable food 15.95 and up chicken, egg
plant parm. No italian bread served, charged slice on check anyway. Minestrone soup bore not even a passing resemblance to minestone, that would have been better out of a can. No
canelloni beans, kidney beans, string beans or garbanzos. Only large pieces of potatoes
in a tastless broth. Thought id mention it on way out to mgr behind pizza counter who seemed to be in the know. Prefaced my comment by complimenting the food in general. He
tells me there are ten versions of Minestrone and this was northern italian style, what a goddamn insulting lie. Someone else who had eaten there many, many times and with guests and was always happy with the food stopped going when the owner, who she came to know as a regular, refused to take a dish back to the kitchen on the one occassion she . voiced a complaint. Pizza pie prices are no bargain either, and are higher than most strip mall joints and not worthy of their using NYC in their signage.
