"Dada" French for Hobby Horse, named after the art movement of the early 1900"s Is located in the historic Tarrimore house. Features American classics and modern dishes, using fresh fish, all natural beef and hand picked produce.
We visited Dada's on a busy Friday night. It's a cute place, good ambiance. Unfortunately, the service was SLOW. We got our drinks quickly, but sat for an hour waiting to give our order. We also ordered a second round of drinks that didn't come for 30-45 minutes. When dinner finally came, the food was pretty good. Then no one came and cleared the table, and we never saw the waiter again. The manager came and asked us how our dinner was, and we said that the service was terrible. She said they were just really busy, no apology. We might have stayed longer and ordered dessert had the service been better, but as it was, we asked for the check and left. With so many choices of fine dining in Delray, we will strike this one off of our list!
We've been to Da das lots of times (in fact, we just back from there tonight). The mood is fabulous- it was an old house at one time (and was Damianos restaurant before it was Da Da). The meatloaf is famous, the music and poetry open mics are fantastic, great fun. The steak Oscar is out of this world and so is the seared tuna. The only thing we did not care for was the fondue dessert. The creme brulee was OK. The gorgonzola penne was delicious, but it gave me heartburn- but that's just me.
Where do I begin? This place was absolutely fabulous and I can be very particular about food and service. We were visiting the area from NYC on a hot Saturday night (8/18). The fresh made mojito at the bar got us started and then we (6 of us) sat outside and had the most wonderful service from Diane, whose passion for food shined without being pretentious. The crabcake and grilled brie was wonderful and Diane suggested two wines by the glass (one was a red Austrian called Franken-something???) to go with my brie and the out of this world Steak Oscar I ordered--the wines were perfectly paired and not too $$. This joint is better than many places I've been to in NYC and I work in the culinary world and cook quite often as a hobby. Definitely go and try to get Diane as your server! Miss you already Diane! Thanks 4 everything!
This is a very funky restaurant and the designer must be commended for the feel good environment. The food was awesome including the crab cakes-delicious!.
BUT! the service was a bit irregular and very uncomfortable. We were a party of eight, including a radio personality, this didn't matter. The bill was over $350.00. The waitress was very pushy and rude not to mention the way she continuously threaten us with bumping us. We could not order appetizer, we had to order everything in all at once, and the entrée came in while still enjoying our appetizers. In conclusion I doubt i will ever bring my family back there.
A fun and funky restaurant. Be sure to get a table outdoors, the inside of the restaurant is a bit dim and cramped. I love eating here but because it is a bit pricey my husband doesn't like going here too much. I would go here weekly if my budget allowed.
