Yes the gardens are beautiful so it is a nice place to walk around and take pictures. However if we are talking about the restaurant itself it is simply average and overpriced. The tenderloin was good but not great and the cobia fish was average but the prices are premium and do not reflect the quality of the food. The dining rooms have no ambiance at all. Basically you are sitting on a lawn chair with a folding table. 3 stars instead of 2 because the service is great. I recommend going there and having a drink at the bar then walk around. Save your money.
I give it 2 stars....and not 1....because of the amazing tropical garden. It is the most impressive garden I have seen. You feel like you have been transported to an exotic rain forest in asia. Not at all stuffy either in terms of something palm beach-ey, if you will. Very exotic and international feeling....the garden, that is.
Unfortunately, with respect to the food... it is as conventional, boring and stuffy as one can find. This place is still stuck in the 80's. The platings consist of a protein with the 80's starch (aka mashed tators) and the 80's little carrots. No amazing sauces or interesting ingredients. They could use a new chef to change the direction and make the place's menu modern....into the year 2009 !!! For the area, I will bypass and will continue patronage of 32 East.
This place is worth the drive! About 45 minutes outside of Miami proper, De la Tierra at the Sundy House is FABULOUS! The surroundings are SO BEAUTIFUL! You feel as though you have stepped onto a tropical island. There are trees and flowering plants. I recommend eating outside in the Tropical Garden, just to get the full experience!! The waitstaff is very attentive, your glass will never be empty. And with a choice of all you can drink Mimosas, Bloody Mary's or Champagne, you don't want it to be empty! The buffet spread is extensive, from normal breakfast selections, to a carving station, to made to order pastas [OH MY GOD I WANTED TO TAKE MY CHEF HOME WITH ME! LOL!] - on to the cold seafood section and the lovely desserts, it was an experience I will NEVER FORGET, and will ALWAYS RECOMMEND! I can't wait until I go back! Bring your camera, you want to take pictures! A great place for a romantic date!
You have to walk through the garden before or after your meal. I highly recommend staying in the cottages, they are charming. We attended a reception here as well, which was amazing. Great food, drinks, and scenery.
What a beautiful location. Listen to the water falls, the birds, soft music. Smell the wonderful aroma of nature and the awesome aroma of a dinner prepared by chef's whose passion is in the experience you are there to enjoy.
The servers are wonderful and are from all over the world. They cater to your every whim!
Highly reommended !!!!!!!!!!!!
