Have been a customer of the Original Cielito Lindo in Pompano for 20 years, where the food is great. Recently visited other site in Ft. Lauderdale after a long absence. It was atrocious!! Nachos were served w/thick greasy cheese layer, but no guacomole, no chopped tomato, no sour cream. Just corn chips & cheese. Next, enchilada, beans and bland rice. Again, no garnish, tomato, sour cream, guacomole of any kind to ear mark it as Mexican in character. Husband had ropa veja. Bland, dry, overcooked meat, no spice, served w/white pasty rice (ungarnished, again) and greasy plantains (burnt, no less). As I left restaurant, made 2 observations to husband: (1) had an awful awful tummy ache, and (2) would never return to this restaurant.
Been a customer for years. This is the best mexican you can get in Lauderdale. I spend alot of time in Texas which is prob the only place you can get better Mexican. Just saw a bad review for Celito Lindo... anyone that doesnt LOVE this restaurant has been eating Taco bell too long!!!!!
Food is terrible! A disgrace to Mexican food. I ordered the chicken fajitas it took a long time to get to me and it looked as though it had been sitting around in the back. The chicken was dry and tough and all of the onions and bell peppers were brown and greasy. If you're looking for good authentic Mexican food DO NOT come here!!!
everything from the the salsa to the fried ice cream is awesome. My favorite dish is the Carne Asade. This is a marinated skirt steak that is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. it also comes with a cheese enchilata, beans, rice, sour cream, and guacamole. Most mexican restaurants give you a thin and long piece of meat, but this one is thick enough to have it cooked at different temperatures. other favorite dishes: Super Nachos and Chimmicanga.
