I had a great jagerschnitzel there. Sauced perfectly, and made from actual, tender veal cutlets, not a small point. The red cabbage was properly cooked as were the carrots -- not mushy and not raw. My 3 companians got the early bird specials, and I will withhold judgment on their food. But, my strudel was quite good, and my wife liked her chocolate mousse pie. We surely will eat there again I am glad we tried it. Get the Jaegerschnitzel, and maybe stay away from the early bird specials, which often amounts to good advice anyway. I didn't like my chicken broth soup; I forget what they called it,

Vienna Cafe is a pretty, intimate restaurant. I went on an off night with a date. We had the Escargots en Croute appetizer. It was delicious, but unfortunately arrived at the table cold and had to be sent back to be warmed. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel (your at the Vienna Cafe after all) and a seafood dish. Both were presented beautifully and were delicious, but what appears to be a running trend at Vienna Cafe, they were just warm. Apparently you dont have to worry about burning your tongue or palate here. You'll have a hard time choosing desert. They are plentiful and delicious. Luckily you'll want them cold or room temp. Lastly, I understand the concept of the two hour meal. I've been to Vienna, traveled extensively in Europe. That said, a two hour meal is one that is enjoyed over conversation and food, not waiting two hours wondering when the food will arrive. Didn't seem to matter whether it was an appetizer, entree or desert, everything took forever to come out of the kitchen. From the looks of the other patrons, our thoughts were the same. Would I go again? Yes, but it's definitely not at the top of my list.

I have been to Vienna Cafe & Wine Bar many times. I find the ambiance perfect for an intimate occasion, the wine selection is very good, bread is tasty and the food is always delicious. The service may not be the fastest, but I have never gone there wanting to rush in and out . Only once the service was horrendous, and that was on a Valentine's Day, and Vienna Cafe is not the only place that has failed to be adequate on Valentine's Day, many of the most famous restaurants have failed (in my book) as well. But for what it is worth, I cannot think of many places that are better, or more intimate than Vienna Cafe, especially if you are planning for a special occasion.
