Galanga Thai Kitchen & Sushi Bar
The soft lighting and comfortable seating of Galanga Thai Kitchen & Sushi Bar make for an intimate setting for meals. The flickering candles further accentuate the mood as one is served tasty Far Eastern curries and noodles. Try the crispy duck that is a much appreciated dish here. The Drunk Noodles and the Ditzy roll are other specialties. Generous quantities of sake and wines accompany the food to provide an authentic dining experience.
I've eaten alot here...standouts are the summer, the royal cut, and the elton john roll. Drinks are good too, try the tyku pomegranate martini...delish!! So it's not the most amazing sushi in florida buit its a great place to go to for it's ambiance and speedy service.
I have been comming to Galanga for over 4 years. I have tried many Thai Sushi restaurant in Fort LAuderdale and I think Galanga is one of the most consistant restaurant. No wonder they are always busy all year around:)
I usually wouldn't wait 20 minutes to be seated. But it was Friday nite, and it seemed everywhere was as packed. It was well worth the wait because everything from the service to dessert was great. The weather helped put the right atmosphere when we were seated outside, a light breeze was just perfect. Going out on a date to Galangas was the perfect setting. Now, I had trouble reading the extensive menu, but thats why you have a gentleman take you out, he will choose wisely for you.
This is a *great* place for a casual dinner with a close friend or 5 - the menu is a lot of traditional thai dishes and sushi, with upscaled house specials and a decent selection of wines (no full bar, bummer). You can probably get out for less than $20 a person (but I've never done it). The menu is not inexpensive but the food is excellent - try the sea bass! Reservations are a good idea on weekends.
This is the best place to go on a date. The food is truly wonderful (try the teriyaki steak) and the ambience is killer! Light electonica music plays in the background and some dishes are served with little oragami creatures made out of shaved carrots.
The only draw backs: can be a little pricey depending on how you work it and there is often a wait if you don't have reservations on the weekend.
