My girlfriend and I both love sushi but are very picky about where we go. We have been into Sushi Rock over 50 times in the past 3 years and have never had anything we did not like. Large rolls, decently priced and extremely fresh. The soups, appetizers, rolls and special house dishes are all delicious. The staff is very friendly and professional. It is a little small inside but that only adds to the ambience and you can even bring your dogs if you don't mind sitting outside. We are always trying to get our friends and family to go there since we know they will enjoy it. Two big thumbs up. I have no idea what restaurant the negative reviews on here are talking about but they do not match anything we have ever experienced.
This is my favorite sushi spot ever...and i've been to them all. I drive all the way from palm beach county just to eat here. My favorite is the TGIF roll. It's cozy, it's great for a date or eating out with friends, the hot sake is fantastic, and after dinner you can party downtown Ft Laud right down the street.
Seems like a fine place when you go in.
I am not easily offended- love to go camping, heck I even tried chocolate covered grasshoppers once.
But I don't like bugs in my sushi- mixed into the sesame seeds were little fleas. Then to make things worse: I sent the california rolls back and the waitress got very snooty with me. I told her i'd pay for our drinks but we will be leaving and she got loud and rude, making a scene. We hadn't taken a bite of the sushi yet but were asked to leave.
Just for context: I pride myself on being a midwesterner who is easygoing and never rude.
I wont be returning to Sushi Rock anytime soon, I was grossed out by obvious bugs, and then when i mentioned it i was rewarded not with an apology but with severe rudeness.
the sashmi did not taste fresh, the rice used on the rolls was not authentic and they made up for the terrible rice and fish by adding lots of sauces to the rolls. The soup was too sweet. The ice cream was not creamy but frozen solid. This is more of a fast food sushi place and I think people like it because of all the sauces. Not at all authentic and beware of the raw fish it is not the best in town by any means.
Where to start? The spot is pretty deceptive - its a hole in the wall sized Sushi Cafe'. Dont be fooled!!! Sushi Rock definitly lives up to its name - Each dish has a signature name to it from pop or rock-n-roll icon. Its has a very progressive atmosphere without being stuffy - The service is excelent - the food has a bit of a unique twist to it and the names make it a bit fun to order. I strongly suggest that you take a friend and order at least 3 different items off the menu - its just too fun to eat just one!! (and like everywhere else in Ft Lauderdale, be prepared to hunt a parking spot. Happy Hunting!!)
