The name is a bit misleading. This popular seafood spot is anything but run-down. The spacious dining room boasts a fabulous view of Biscayne Bay. A la carte entrees include steak, pasta and fresh, delicious seafood. The Sunday buffet brunch is one of the most popular in town, offering a variety of delicious dishes for a reasonable price. Come early to avoid the long wait and for a good table.
The Sunday Brunch is absolutely great!!! The food is delicious and they offer a large variety of fresh and cooked food.
Even the kids were happy, they especially liked the desserts and enjoied sitting by the water and watching the boats pass by.
I had heard this place was great, so I went with my wife to check it out, and i was extremely disappointed, the food was not good and expensive, the service was slow and do not leave your vehicle with the valet parking staff! They are morons, and the driver door was severly sratched when i came out of the restaurant, will never return here again.
As a former employee and also longtime customer of the Rusty Pelican, I was extremely disappointed in seeing how low this once fine establishment has sunk. First, you are now required to valet park at $4 (not including gratuity of course). Who do they think they are, charging for parking? Secondly, their famous cheese bread is not even close to what it used to be. While the meal was good, the waiter knew nothing about wines. Finally, in a further effort to get into our wallets, they now add a mandatory 18% for all parties. This is really offensive. Although we didn't use the restroom, I'm fairly sure the employees who give you towels (and expecting a tip) are still in there. This place is getting too greedy. If they want to appeal to only one segment of the market, they are doing a great job of that, but it's a shortsighted way to maximize revenue as they're turning off many customers.
The location of this place is great! The view is awesome on the water and if you can get a window seating or even outside highly recommended. We went with a group of 7 for Thanksgiving Dinner (yes some of us don't like to cook) and while I did not have the turkey dinner (you can have turkey anytime) some of the others in the party did and they did not like it. They found the stuffing too dry. I had the Neptune Platter which was awesome. Pick items they specialize in Turkey Dinners are not their specialty. Now as for service oh boy I wish it was better it was hard to get out waitor. It was like once you get him order all your drinks now because to catch would be like fishing for catfish on Biscayne Bay.
