The name is a bit misleading. This popular seafood spot is anything but run-down. The spacious dining room boasts a fabulous view of Biscayne Bay. A la carte entrees include steak, pasta and fresh, delicious seafood. The Sunday buffet brunch is one of the most popular in town, offering a variety of delicious dishes for a reasonable price. Come early to avoid the long wait and for a good table.
I drove 40 miles to eat at this well know restaurant to find out that it was the worst dinner decision ever. I was never served water, had to get my own appetizer dish, took 32 minutes after I placed my order to find out there was no mashed potatoe. When expressed my frustration to manager, he treated the problem as if it happens all the time with just offering frinks and a free brunch. I declined on all his offers because the experiece for the small portion of time that I was there was TERRIBLE!
i loved the view on the water and the food was just luscious. the service was terrific, our waitstaff fulfilled our every need. i would certainly recommend this establishment to anyone.the only dislike if any was the parking lot.
Unfortunately I cannot say I liked my first and last trip to the Rusty Pelican. I think the 27 dollars per person for the sunday brunch was absolutely not worth it. The food was not good, the service was really poor and the overall environment was not the best. I requested two highchairs for at least half of the time I was there, they finally brought one but they forgot the other. My husband had to go look for the other chair because if not we wouldn't have been able to get it. We also asked for a diet coke which we never got. Overall experience was very poor.
Astounding. The best features of the Rusty Pelican are the drive to Key Biscayne from the mainland and the scenic view from inside the restaurant. The views of the bay are stunning on the drive over; and from the dining room the view of the Miami skyline across Biscayne Bay is beautiful. Always has been. But all that is wasted on the menu, which has offerings too expensive for the quality of the food. It ranks with Red Lobster.
We went there to celebrate a birthday, and truly the services was so bad, that I felt that BK would of been a better choice. The food, I've had better...the tables are so crammed together that there was no room to move your arms to eat. The only good part was the view, and even though when we made the reservation a window table was guaranteed, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant, where everyone walks by.
The parking situation is horrific, the staff races the cars, burn rubber, and just plain abuse the cars.
With what we paid, $650.00, you better believe that we'll be going someplace else for the next celebration.
Parking: Horrible-$4.00 to self park or valet park your car; ridiculously small lot.
Appearance: Very nice, the resturant appeared clean and staff were helpful.
View: Awesome, but very HOT on the deck in the afternoon in April.
Service: Very Good; helped us get a table inside after sweltering on the deck.
Food: Overpriced in my estimation and not of a quality I expected.
Recommend it? Not based on my first visit. There are better restaurants for less throughout Dade and Broward Counties; Don't make a special trip for this one.
Type: American. Situated right on the water with breathtaking view, day or night. This is a very romantic place for dinner with a date. Food is excellent too, fresh, high quality, and delicious. The only drawback is the tables are too crammed next to each other to allow more seating.
