The name is a bit misleading. This popular seafood spot is anything but run-down. The spacious dining room boasts a fabulous view of Biscayne Bay. A la carte entrees include steak, pasta and fresh, delicious seafood. The Sunday buffet brunch is one of the most popular in town, offering a variety of delicious dishes for a reasonable price. Come early to avoid the long wait and for a good table.
Just went for my birthday last week. Jan.2012. Hated it!!! I went a year ago before the renovations and it was great. Now, the appetizers are tooooo small for the price. They want each person now to pay for their own appetizer instead of the table sharing like it used to be. So you've spent, for a party of 4, $40-$50 in appetizers before you even get your main course because each one is around $10 or more. Then the main course....oh boy.....they changed the menu, so now you can't get the lobster AND shrimp or steak. Its all separate. My mashed potatoes came out of a box! I know they did because it tastes like I made them. Actually I could do better! Sorry, I won't ever be back. I wish I could give it 0 stars but I can't so I will give it 1 star. They have new management, new chefs, new menu. Not for me! The rest of you.....have fun.
My wife and I went there on our first date 8 years ago. Last night we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary by having dinner there. Bad move!! Our waiter seemed in a big hurry. We ordered cocktails and I specified that I wanted a Bombay Saphire Martini. Well Bombay it wasnt. I was served some cheap well Gin. Next, the appetizer(Crab Cakes) was burnt beyond belief and had no taste. I asked our waiter for more bread. He took what was in the basket and 20 minutes later I had to ask again. This time he brought back the basket with what was supposed to be cheese toast except that they forgot the cheese. After a long wait(our in a hurry waiter never asked if we wanted another cocktail) our entees arrived. My wife ordered the twin lobster tails(45.00) and I saw her struggling to cut one of the tails. She offered me the other. It was like rubber!! Overcooked, hard and with an ammonia aftertaste. I truly do not recommend to anyone to eat there. Aside from the view of of the Brickell skyline, this place has nothing to offer. A true, bonafide tourist trap. Too bad!! This used to be a top notch eatery. Now it is nothing of that sort and is extremely overpriced. They will never see another penny of my money and I have already mentioned my displeasure to several friends and family
Went there to celebrate Father's Day with my brother and his two kids. The overall service was quite underwhelming, although the manager (at least I think he was) was on the floor and was very attentive to many tables. The women's bathroom was not well kept at all and they had the nerve to have an attendant in there!?! My stall barely had toilet paper, seat cover dispenser was empty, and you want me to tip you for handing me a paper towel? The FOOD is just not worth the prices they are charging! And sorry, the restaurant's decor is cheesy and a little out-dated. Nice view I suppose, but overall only a 2-star rating from me.
My husband and I went there for Valentine's Day expecting the same great food and experience that we had experienced in the past. Unfortunately, it was a big disappointment. The menu was very limited and the food was not impressive at all. To top it off, the ladies room was disgusting. When I complained to the hostess she explained that they, the hostess', were responsible for cleaning the restrooms, but were too busy. Needless to say, I will never return to the Rusty Pelican ever again.
This place is THE worst...waited a FULL hour for food, and it wasn't at all good..for the price, this place boasts a limited, less than desireable menu, poor ambiance, and terrible service...all in all, this place gets 5 thumbs down...if there was an option to select a rating less than awful, I would have chosen it....overall, HORRIFFIC!!!
WE had our wedding on May 31st and it was a terrible experience!! It rained inside our room, the wedding cake was wrong, no sign was put up at the reception area and to add insult to injury we were overcharged on the bill!!! When we contacted management no one made an effort to at least work with us.
Have been going here for 2 years. The food is wonderful with unlimited Sunday Brunch for 32.95 . All you can eat Peel and Eat Shrimp,Snow Crab, Oysters as well as all the other over 25 items that they have.
Pam the Hosts and all the wait staff provide a service above and beyond the normal. This is a Champaign brunch, not a glass but continuously as well as orange juice all you can drink. Try the ahi tuna as well as the deserts. Great for kids and family. The view of Miami and the cruise ships when they are in is just exceptional. The Rusty Pelican is just over the bridge on the left hand side on the water. I can not say enough about this wonderful place.A must for everyone with good taste.
There is no self parking Valet is $5. The service was pretty awful. I remember it being such a good restaurant years ago. The menu was extremely limited. We never got our salads before the meal came. The view was good but that was about it. A real disappointment.
