I moved to Miami in 1993 when I was 11 years old. We found Matsuri a year later by coincidence because we were going to the Milams next door. We knew we had found a good sushi joint because everyone in there was Japanese. This is the place I tried sushi for the first time, and learned to appreciate the art of and fine cuisine that is sushi.
It was a quiet place the first couple of years and then blew up! Ive seen Jon Secada eat there, as well as Ingrid Casares. I highly recommend EVERYTHING! great service, great food, small relaxing atmosphere, and the aesthetics of the plates are divine... OH! and how could I forget the lunch specials... Years ago, I am sure it has changed since, you would pay $9.99, and get some salad, soup, a roll, rice, and an accompanying ingredient. Their ginger sauce is great!
I am sure you need a reservation now. I went like 3 years ago and it was PACKED for lunch with college students from UM, ladies who lunch, and once again... those Japanese business men.
