This is a charming French eatery in every sense boasting fabulous food, friendly service, and a warmly decorated interior. The walls are painted a bright yellow, and French doors open onto the sidewalk. Although you might be tempted to indulge in rich entrees and appetizers, you will thank yourself later for saving room. Desserts are extremely tempting. Mouthwatering Duck Pate is a delicious starter for your meal. Fresh fish, Chicken en Papillote, and Peppercorn Steak are a few of the available entrees. You will not want to leave without trying one of the freshly prepared desserts. The atmosphere is not stuffy, but you willfeel more comfortable if you change out of your beach clothes.
Awful awful awful!! We never even sat down to eat. The staff was so rude as well as the owner. We went during the Coconut Grove Arts Festival. They did not want to accomodate us (4 adults and one baby). The owner cursed at us when we left because we (for personal reasons) had to leave prior to even ordering. Yes, that's right- THE OWNER CURSED US OUT AND TOLD US TO NEVER COME BACK!!!! We certainly won't. Not child friendly and if you upset the owner- he is not afraid to let you know in front of all of the dining guests. We were never sure why the owner was so angry.....and I never have been cursed at by anyone at any business in my life. If you want a great meal in the grove-go to Green Street!!!! The food and staff there is always superb!
As a french citizen and traveler I must say that Le bouchon is a joke to any real French cuisine connaisseur ! Their menu uses fancy descriptions to sell you very mediocre french food that tastes nowhere nearly as good as they want you to think.
The decor is so cheesy and is definitely a tourist trap which caters to american stereotypes about France.
The staff which was once french is now mostly latino american and the new owner has absolutely no charisma.
I have been told it used to be faboulous but the new ownership must be driving this restaurant into the ground.
The other french restaurant across the street is much more refined and classy, serving authentic homestyle french cuisine without catering to stereotypes and without the obnoxious attitude of Le Bouchon.
I have been to Le Bouchon du Grove several times but this last visit I was disenchanted. The menu had a mixed-seafood dish that advertised as snapper, halibut, clams and mussels that were steamed in saffron base liquor. This sounded delicious and I was excited. However, the advertised snapper and halibut turned out to be salmon and tuna. Besides having distinct flavors, the fine structure and pink tint of the salmon fillet is impossible to mistake and when you overcook the tuna it turns gray and tough, which is also impossible for me to mistake. Shame on Le Bouchon du Grove for substituting a lower grade fish for the premium fish that was advertised. Quality restaurants never substitute lower grade fish for what is advertised and if they are out of an item, they ask the customer if a substitute is acceptable. The Chef violated my trust and Le Bouchon du Grove is off my list of preferred resturants.
The food was incredible. We ate the escargo every night of our 4 day stay even if we were going to try somewhere else for dinner. For dinner we had the french onion soup, the escargo and the mussels. Fantastic. The french bread was freshly baked. The waiters were friendly and the owner was so nice. We felt like we were visitng family the second time we ate there.
Very traditional french bistro fare, well prepared and an excellent (if limited) wine list. Fun here is the ambiance and atmosphere created by the greagarious owner and his staff. A favorite for dinner (busy until late almost every night), but also an excellent spot for breakfast or a quick lunch.
