Description
Versailles Restaurant, The Worldac2s Most Famous Cuban Restaurant, has been serving tasty Cuban cuisine and culture to the South Florida community and tourists from around the world for four decades. Soon after it opened its doors in 1971, Versailles quickly became the gathering place and unofficial town square for Miamiac2s Cuban exiles. Today, it remains the unrelenting gauge of the communityac2s pulse. Not surprisingly, Versailles is typically the first place politicians visit locally to garner support from the Cuban exile community, and the restaurant is equally a favorite among the media for gathering commentary and footage of the communityac2s take on social and political issues. It is not uncommon to see local, national and international media set up camp in Versaillesac2 parking lot, where theyac2re sure to get a flood of local viewpoints.
this review is just for the bakery - as i am yet to dine here. I do pick up pastries every now and again and just the memmory of them fills my mouth with water. i always go for what ever is coming fresh out of the oven...
I'm not sure if is bad luck but I have not been impressed with the food here, I've tried different cuban dishes and I always leave dissapointed, the service is always slow, in one ocassion the food came warm & the steaks weren't tender at all.
Is a pity that Latinamerica is gone, Versailles is not as good as they were (or Lila's for that matter)
Wow, quality .... sustained for so many years. Was really impressed with the new stand-alone building bakery. Pastries were so fresh and light! My favorite of all time is the simple pastel de queso (cheese pastry)....a classic cuban pastry...with danish-type light cheese filling...and light fluffy pastry with a lightly caramelized coating on top. Perfect for washing down with a cafe con leche (espresso with steamed milk) ! :)
With lunch or dinner, try the batidos....like the mango or mamey...with milk. These are fruit shakes with milk....only they are not like the artificial american kind that overload with corn syrup and other articial chemicals...this is fruit and milk baby !!
Worth popping in when in the neighbhorhood in the cuban section of miami/coral-gables!
We ate here last nite. My brother-in-law recommended it. The food was good. Service was great. If you do not know much about Cuban food try the Criollo sampler. Enough food for 2 people.
This place was recommended by a Miami resident and it was awesome! We didn't know what to choose but we settled on the platter with a variety of samples of classic cuban food. Very tasty food that leaves you wanting to come back. Only comment would be on the wait staff is rather slow on refilling drinks and getting your food...the wait is worth it! Visit the bakery too before you leave..amazing!
I live in California and I have been gone for dinner as Versailles every time I was in Miami but last time I was extremely disappointed I took 12 for dinner and the service was aweful slow the waiters were forgetfull of orders the food was cold I orderd breaded pork that was dried no flavor and cold all and all it was a horible experience I don't think I will go there again this is bad because this was my favorite restaurant in Miami
I discovered Versailles Cuban Restaurant over 20 years ago while going to and from the Miami airport picking up my Ex-husband's family from Spain and Argentina. It is like going to a Fabulous Cuban Diner with every Cuban food you can imagine. We always have to eat there when I go to Miami. The Cuban coffee is so delightful... I have been making it ever since I drank it at Versailles.... You must whip the sugar in a metal pitcher with a little coffee first..then add the rest of the coffee to a demitase cup.....The service is fast and friendly.........

I lived in Miami for many years and always loved the food at Versailles. I also tried other Cuban restaurants and I never enjoyed them quite as much as Versailles. Not just the food is great but the people, atmosphere etc make it a great time!
Every dish we try was great. We are going back. Our son loves the desserts. The bakery is connected with the restaurant, great for desserts to go. Only problem is the parking, really limited.
