No flash in the pan! Christy's is the Grand Dame of Coral Gables restaurants, still packing them in after thirty years with its simple formula of great food and impeccable service. Politicians, CEO's and Celebes have all made this landmark a local favorite. From Rod Stewart to Tiger Woods. From Michael Jordan to Governor Jeb Bush. Yes, this is THE place for great aged steaks and prime rib, grilled lamb chops, fresh Florida seafood and homemade desserts. The awards keep rolling infrom CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Miami Herald and the Zagat Survey. But the line at the door tells the story. This is the place to be. Best bets: the award-winning Caesar salad served with all entrees, shrimp cocktail (man eaters), prime rib, fresh grilled yellowtail snapper and signature Baked Alaska. I went with a group of people to Christy's during the Miami Spice event, which is when several 4 and 5 star restaurants lower there prices for about a month. The waiter was smarmy and rude toward my girlfriend and some of the other guest at my table. I am not sure if it was because we were there for Miami Spice but it was unnecessary. The restaurant was cramped and bit dated. I loved the food but I don't really see a reason to go back.
Been going here since it opened in 1978. Classic American steakhouse decor, excellent service, the best ceasar salad in town is included with dinner, as is your potato or vegetable. Very good steaks (the large filet mignon is the best one), but order the prime rib (extra large cut, bone in) or the lamb chops. You won't find better lamb chops or prime rib anywhere. Baked Alaska for dessert is a trademark here, served flaming at tableside.
One of south Florida's best restaurants. Definitely not a scene, however, more popular with the Barbara Bush crowd. I have been coming here with my family since I was in college 15 years ago and we all still love it.
