This hotel had its Pros and Cons. Good service but they might want to think about informing guests that this is a gay/lesbian primary hotel. I brought my family and there are some things my children dont need to be exposed to at such a young age. That would be one of them.
I am from Upstate New York and we seldom get weather that Florida is used to on a daily basis. We flew into Orlando and rented a car (100 dollars for 5 days, thanks Alamo!) and drove to the Keys (we wanted to because of all the nice scenery). Anyways.... We got there on a beautiful day and was greeted at the counter then shown our rooms. We paid the extra cash (about 15/25 a night) for a poolside room. The pool is not your typical hotel pool but it is 6ft+ deep and was constantly cleaned. It's surrounded by plant life and Key West can get windy which causes some of the plants to get in the pool. Again don't worry as they are always on top of it.
Parking was fine. We had no issues parking on a side street 50ft away from the Hotel. There is plenty of parking, you just have to find it. Watch out for the one way roads!!
This is an Adult hotel. Not saying kids should not come but some of the events were targeted towards adults. Honestly if you are planning a trip to Key West you should leave the kids behind.
We did take in a breakfast at the restaurant and boy was it delicious. The potions were big enough to have a little left overs for later (no microwaves in the rooms FYI... but theres always a mini fridge!).
We noticed right away that we picked the best hotel on Duval St. as we left and began to check out other establishments (for comparison).
The atmosphere and night life were amazing in the Keys. It was a little low key when we went as it was the middle of the summer and winter rush but we did not mind. It was more for a break from the busy New York life. The night life is like none other!
Bottom line, if you are looking for the best, most enjoyable stay on Duval St. LaTeDa Hotel is your pick! We cannot wait to go back, we had one of the most amazing times down there and look forward to next time. Highly recommend.
Let me just start by saying this is not a hotel to stay in if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable get away. The staff was friendly enough and at times did seem to try and be accomodating that is where the positive remarks end. The rooms are poorly put together with mismatched tile, ratan furniture and very outdated small dingy bathrooms. The bed was large but after two nights comfortable is not a word I would use to describe it. The worst part of the room was that it did NOT have central a/c. The room contained a single window unit which was placed way to high for anyone to actually feel the air. Key West heat in the middle of August paired with a dinky window a/c made for a miserably hot room. The worst part was that the hotel failed to mention they cater to primarily gay/lesbian clientele. While I'm completely fine with alternative lifestyles I would of liked to know that we would be one of the only hetero couples in the whole place. They hold what they call a Sunday tea party which basically entails techno music blaring for 4 hours while men in speedos grind on oneanother, even the most liberal of people such as myself felt extremely uncomfortable. We had to walk through this just to try and exit our room. Just know this place is NOT at all what it seems ,beware!!!!
stayed there in 12/3/2006 and loved the place the rooms were nice and the pool was great...on duval street and close enough to the places i needed to go to. the people in the hotel coulded have been any better.
p.s it was 80 degrees in keywest and 20 back home... that made it all and the people in key west were great too.
i enjoyed everything about my stay!! the staff were friendly!! the owner who i meet personaly was amazing!!!!! the only thing that i would change is the pool being cleaned because of the tres around the pool i was swimming in leaves the whole time!!! beside that it was a blast i would recommend it to anyone!!
We liked the location very much.
The Overall experience at The LaTeDa was just wonderful. The grounds and the hotel itself are very well maintained. The complimentary breakfast was a really nice perk. The Staff was very friendly and knowledgable. The Caberet shows were just great.
I guess you get the feeling we liked it alot.
