On Sept. 19, 1992, Blue Heaven Restaurant cooked and served black beans, rice and fish to its first lunch customers on painted picnic tables under a tropical almond tree in its outdoor dining area in Florida. The outdoor courtyard is paved with the slate pool table tops from the days the downstairs of the building operated as a billiard hall and ice cream parlor. A dance hall, a bordello and a playhouse have occupied the second floor of the restaurant s location. Breakfast items include pancakes, seafood and lobster benedict, granola, omelettes, fruit cups and a la carte items. Lunch items include soups, salads, sandwiches, fish, tortillas, vegetable plates, cheese steak and desserts. Dinner items include a variety of appetizers, shrimp, chicken dinners, pork tenderloin, New York strip steak, tuna, dolphin, beef tenderloin and desserts. The restaurant also has catering and banquet menus available. Blue Heaven Restaurant is located in Key West, Fla.
This is my most favorite place in the entire world. . . great atmosphere, great food, great service. If you like restaurants with character, definitely check Blue Heaven out! It's worth making the trip to Key West just for this place :o)
Good solid food in a quirky corner enclosed patio. Came for breakfast around 9:00am Friday, November 07, 2008 and was immediately seated. My bride had the breakfast tortilla and I had the Eggs and Spiced Potatos. Tortilla was very good. The Eggs and potatoes fiar (potatoes had very little spice to them). Price was very reasonable.
We ate their twice. The first time we loved it. I had their snapper special and my husband had their scallop special. The food, service, music and bohemian theme is great. The second time however my husband asked for his filet mignon medium rare and was served bloody rare. Sent it back to the cook and still came back very rare. We will probably still go back because all in all it is a great place. Try it out.
Best Bloody Mary's, incredible dinners, wonderful breakfasts. Four of us ate there for dinner last week, each of us ordered a different dinner. The entrees were filet mignon, scallops, yellow-tail snapper, and grouper, and each of us thought our dinners were the best we ever had! All this and great ambiance and service too! We finished the evening with a Banana Heaven that we all shared, and still couldn't eat it all. If you're in Key West, DO NOT MISS BLUE HEAVEN!
Enjoyed dinner at Blue Heaven on April 17th. There was no wait and our waiter was great. The seared Sea Scallops are a must also enjoyed a Key Lime Martini. Great experience and definitely the best food we had in Key West.
We go to Key West the 11th week every year and go to Blue Heaven twice, for dinner. This past March was our 23rd trip. There probably isn't a restaurant we haven't gone to. Blue Heaven had hired some foreign waiters this year and we had our first bad experience as a result. On the bright side, we asked for the manager immediately and he (Scott)more than made up for the waiters rudeness. Blue Heaven continues to be our favorite restaurant both for the food and the atmosphere. If you are lucky enough to get to Key West I would encourage you to go to Blue Heaven and judge for yourself. We know we are going to have to wait for up to an hour but the drinks and people watching are both enjoyable events at Blue Heaven!!! Try it, you'll love it!!
My wife and I went to the Blue Heaven for breakfast, as it seemed to be a necessary part of any vacation to Key West. While it was a very good meal, it was by no means extraordinary and the pricing did leave much to be desired. We were greeted with an hour wait time (though it was only the fault of our own, as we made no reservations, thinking we could get away with it on a Wednesday morning) and spent it sipping freshly squeezed OJ at the bar. We found out how much those juices were later, but we should have guessed they wouldn't have been cheap. The atmosphere is unique, as you are served outside on their patio, although it did seem somewhat cramped, as we couldn't help but have the people at the tables next to us talk over our conversation for the entire time as we sat almost on top of them. The food itself was good and the service was friendly and prompt. While certainly not the end-all, be-all event some make it out to be, it is a nice place to grab a meal.
Terrible experience. Began with an obnoxious, rude hostess and an hour wait. Ended with a mediocre overpriced meal. Will never go back. Overrated with substandard customer service. Lacking in Key West charm. There are plenty of excellent restaurants to check out. Don't waste your time.
OK....BLUE HEAVEN, IF YOU are a true Key West traveler then tradionally you have to go to
Blue Heaven at least once, nooo the menu is not huge, but it has a few items which I think you would love. This is not my favorite place to eat breakfast in KW but it is without a doubt a must if you go to KW west now you may eat with a few chickens and a rooster and some really cute chicks and I mean the ones with feathers, but this is part of the charm of Blue Heaven that is why the later it gets during breafAST hours the longer the line. Most of the prime dinning is outside and try a bloody mary very good there.... we will go at least once during our stay... try it out
